I have found a way to legally jump the red cyclist light in St George's Circus heading northbound.
Basically what I do is instead of heading toward the cycle lane where the traffic light for cyclists is on, I ride on the bus lane that's heading toward Waterloo avoiding it, then a quick turn into the cycle lane situated between the two lane (ahead of the cycle lane that have the traffic light).
Because it doesn't have traffic light on that cycle lane, I'm free to cycle away if there's a gap in the incoming traffic.

Did I see you actually actually RLJ the Oval lights the other day on a dark blue Brooklyn?

Red Light Avoidance - just cos it's not illegal....

I've noticed this loophole at Oval too. Very crafty.
My personal gripe for the day is the cyclists surrounding the poor left-indicating learner driver at the red light near Clapham Common. Guys, give the poor fucker some space - why squeeze down the side? I'm so glad I didn't learn to drive in this city...

I have a dark blue Brooklyn and live in Oval but haven't ridden that for over a week.

On Brixton Road? I rarely use that cycle lane as it go red way before the main one to let the drivers turn left, or I can just ride on the road and head straight on instead and legal to boot.
Plus, there's load of shit on the cycle lane, hello puncture o'clock!
It's a nice design but the cycle lane is already at max capacity in peak time that people gonna overspill onto the other lane, especially when it's gonna get warmers.

There's one opportunity to do it northbound and one southbound - as long as you're sticking to the CS7 in each direction.
Northbound - if the light is green for the two lanes of left-turning traffic going up Kennington Road, you can take the right hand lane (of those two) and nip into the cycle lane slightly beyond where the light is red for the cyclists. Off you go up the CS7 (Kennington Park Road) to freedom.
Southbound - similarly, if the light is green for the traffic going up towards Brixton you can take the lane and nip into the Clapham-bound CS7 just beyond where the light is red for the cycle lane.
Disclaimer: I've never done this, and nor am I advocating it. Have just noticed it's technically possible.

Rode in with a gent on a full carbon Planet X with white forks. Had a good sprint over London Bridge. Seemed like he could be "on here".

First time back into town after a year heading outside the M25.... So many cyclists, I'd forgotten just how many people are riding. (This may be noddergeddon related as well)

How far is too far for a daily commute?
I used to do 27 miles, mostly through country lanes which was nice in the summer and FREEZING in the winter. I got pretty tired so wouldn't do more than 2 or 3 times a week. Train the rest of the time. Good excuse to eat all the food though.

That what I did, it's very much legal unless the government introduced a Danish law saying you should stay in the cycle lane

Look at that weather...
Definitely looking to finish early today and bugger off somewhere nice to make the most of the evening sunshine.

If only I could finish early! Long way home if it stays like this or normal way and drinks in the sun at home?

Long way and drinks in the dark?

Lot's of aggressive testosterone full cyclists out now putting their winter training schedule to use on the daily commute. Had some very strange experiences the last couple of mornings.

Drink now, drink on the long way home, drink in the dark after getting lost, drink at home.

Was going to treat myself to the first bare knee ride home of the year, but I realised I was still wearing winter boots so went for the unconventional tights and short sleeves look.
Seemed to ride like a bit of a dick but I don't think that was related to my clothing.

Today I was cycling at 5am and a car was sick of waiting at a red with me in the ASL, so it just RLJd around me.
Yes - my commute was pretty much all cycle path through the countryside, with just a tiny bit of road at either end. My house is a 30 sec ride from the path, which is great (the other direction goes straight in to town).
It was a great commute actually. I even miss doing the pitch black run thought the woods in the winter!
