in London I would use nothing less than a fagh mini & an evo mini together. I do love my bikes though...what's the attraction of a chain? Chains just don't offer the same level of security... have you read the locks that work and the how to lock your bike threads? Could give you nightmares....

Hummm....
...some good points, might it be worth starting a dedicated thread about which locks work?
To my mind if you don't want to carry too many locks the best solution is one very good d-lock, and a QR front wheel.
Personally I usually use a cable like this:
plus a d-lock. In a bag.
That way I can protect my front wheel and saddle from casual theft.

Wiganwill has a hiplock from a n other bike shop for testing.

Chinos, collar, but no tie. Maybe boat shoes. And a stocking over the face.
Wow. My place 11pm?

Pretty much. It's the robbers version of dressdown Friday.
What I mean is a pro going out propperly tooled up vs. Kiddies and other tracksuit wearers opportunistically stealing you bike/parts using the frame as leverage to bust a lock.

It's there with casual rape, according to the government.

Quite. But theft is theft innit. Either way is a bitch.

No way, that Fagh is so heavy it caused me back pain on its own in my bag, let alone + a mini evo. And certain chain locks absolutely do afford plenty of security.

Of course, maybe I should just deal with it until the Atomic 22 pit locks come out; I've got Pinheads for my geared bike (not on, yet) and then I'll just need to carry the New York 3000.
Oh right, the allure...well, aside from the above reason, I had all sorts of problems finding suitable locking places when I had to travel for work (many lamp poles are too fat for a D lock). I've been interested for ages but hadn't thought about what might happen if I fell off wearing a chain lock. I've heard a story where someone had their chain locked around them and either forgot their keys or lost them and had to have it cut off by the fire dept. It took ages and required a fire proof blanket over the person locked into it and them wearing all their protective equipment due to the sparks. It wasn't even a Kryptonite. Good sign!

I do indeed have one from Evans that I will be reviewing for their blog in a week or so. I haven't made up my mind yet except what I knew before I even got it: I would never have a chain as my only lock. I use the HipLock on its own when I think it is a low risk situation, otherwise I take my D lock.
It is reasonably comfortable to wear though, you forget it is there if you position it correctly. And since it fastens round you with velcro you won't need to cut it off if you lose a key (you get 4 keys though).
Anyway, another week to see how it goes. -

Agreed, but I was trying to suggest another option, to what I don't think is a great idea.
... I am sick of carrying two locks, it hurts my back!
......my answer to carrying two locks...

I would say (depending on your security need), get a pitlock front, and a small carridice with extra tight cable-ties. Then just keep one good D-lock in there. Or even just a d-lock with a frame mount. This is what I used to do on my hybrid. The only downside is that it doesn't look cool and some are a bit shit.
Alternatively if you cycle to work, then leave an extra lock at work. That's what I do.

Luckily we have a bike shed at work but you can't use pitlocks with track hubs. I'm awaiting the bagman to take the weight of a D lock. And I'm on the list to get Atomic 22 pit locks. So all in all I just wonder what people think about using this lock as the method for securing bicycle to immovable objects.

Made me chuckle...
The problem with chains is simple, if you can get a pair of bolt croppers round it, and they're half decent croppers... well.
youtube is blocked at work but I think this is the video I'm looking for
YouTube - Various Sold Secure and Thatcham chains chopped.
or read this
http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/kryptonite-hit-back-after-tv-bike-theft-documentary-11745/
bike thieves do use these croppers.
Have you tried a lock holster rather than carrying in your bag?

I was reading this thread to figure out what lock to get on top of my krypto mini and cable when I'm in London but this has pissed me right off...
Kinda, but not really. I guess I'm reacting to all the hype about her when she's nothing special.
Can you define special? As in not pretty enough/has her tits out for sad pervy guys on bikes? I don't know her well but Jules is the best female rider I've rode with. She practices on her 'oversized BMX' over and over and over to nail each trick just the way she wants. She is super dedicated to bikes, encouraging to other women and thinks all the hype is funny and strange...I think she's pretty special. She's just a normal girl doing what she loves and it's a massive fucking deal because she's a woman!
Anyway, doubt I'll go for the Hiplok...

This is not the first time oz.s' taste in women has been discussed, i believe he's into women more his own age... don't take offence...

I use my Hiplok as a main security when I'm around and keep an eye on the bike - mainly to stop fellow forum members from doing doughnuts outside the pub.

damn, didn't think you would realise why 1 of your pedals got threaded.

Yeah was a bit OTT, I've just had similar comments made about me though...like our appearance has anything to do with how we ride/bike stuff we organise! Annoying.
OK, how does this compare? The NY chain lock is 12mm chain, and is only a 10 out of 12 American rating... (krypto fagh chain is 12/12)

This one is silver sold secure and is only 8mm chain. Hmm...
