• arrrrgggghhhhh!!

    TEMPTATION!

  • Interesting tactic. I've had to invent games like counting how many people pass me, in order to not race on commutes while training for 24s.
I tend to look around pretending it's the first time I've ever ridden a road if someone wants to pass. Passing a tourist = no points.
Or, sit up and adjust my bag straps/adjust my jacket or something.

The awkward one for me, is smashing roadies on short climbs, on fixed evening rides.

I dont mean anything by it. I just would'nt get up the hill, 48:16, without smashing it.

Please dont take it as a challenge.

I will buck-a-roo myself into a wall if I race you down the other side.

  • These are definitely up for grabs, any interest here before I put up an advert in the main forum?

  • Hylix.

    Do, or do not?

    what are they for? 29er?

  • Someone on STW had a problem with the fork crown/steerer interface coming loose on an earlier set of those a few years ago, but I'd definitely get them for under a ton.

  • ^^26er. MTB.

  • Gotcha, umop3pisdn.

Presumably not that exact model, as they are described as monocoque

  • anyone tried and of the cyclocross frames

  • Not trying to get into the whole debate of orient express or not but where do you get the stuff?

  • A variety of places. I've bought a road frame from GoToBike, a 29er frame from HongFu, 2 sets of 29er carbon rims and a set of 50mm carbon clinchers from Light Bicycle, another set of 50mm carbon clinchers from FarSport and a pair of 60/88mm tubular carbon rims from Yoeleo. Chose what you want, get a price by e-mail, send money by Paypal and job's a good 'un.

  • As a counterpoint I've stuck with one vendor, Farsports, simply because they sorted out an issue for me on the second lot of rims I bought when they could have told me to bugger off.

That is not to suggest in anyway that they are better than the other outfits - simply that I stuck with them due to them presenting less risk in my mind.

Which is quite possibly bonkers, but there you go.

I worded it badly, they were definitely a monocoque, the crown started creaking.

Having used both. I prefer Hongfu. Not that I have a major complaint against Farsports. I was way out of warrenty, and they still offered a discount on a replacement. Hongfu were just quicker, and the particular rims I bought far nicer. But that could just be down to having bought a poor rimset before.

  • can you elaborate on which was bad / good rimset?

  • The carbon clincher rimset from Farsports had a poor braking surface. They've stopped making them now because of this. I did a bonkers 1500m decent on them. With plenty of uber late slamming on the brakes, to avoid turist buses. This turned the bead hook area to mush.

  • ouch

  • ouch

    Luckily not.

Only noticed on the next ride. Could have been fecking horrific though. Plenty of opertunity to go over the tiny road wall to a rocky end.

On the plus side it pushed me to tubs, and I could'nt be happier.

  • Thinking about it. The unreliability of the Garmin HRM saved my arse. Kept stopping during the last section, as my mates was playing up (only he would care about HR on a decent). So I was probably not riding like a complete twat for the last 1/3.

Sounds pretty sensible to me. Personally I believe in rewarding good service and punishing bad. I know the likes of BT and Vodaphone probably don't care too much about more or less perminantly loosing my custom, but if everyone did it then they might.

ebay or aliexpress (usually cheaper and often the same sellers)

  • i need a carbon cyclocross fork, who of the orient companies is best. farsport dont seem to do them separately

  • disc or canti?

  • canti
