It doesn't have a memory card, it can't be found becuase it wont turn on. I've ordered a new battery to see if that'll fix it.

In search of an elegant Pro Evo with 705 solution, and on Tester's advice, I'm waiting for this to be delivered from Raceware Direct. Stoked.

How does that work? Personally I don't trust 3d printed mounts as everyone I know who has one had theirs snap

My raceware threaded on first installation. I'm an ape of a mechanic though.
The K-edge just seems better made, and I can take it on and off without removing every fecking thing from my bars.

I had a go at fixing my Garmin:
Installed the new battery aannndddd
Thank goodness for that, the old one looked ok physically and had been holding plenty of charge, but I wonder if being on charge at a sleeping computer which woke up (and possibly gave a usb surge) killed it, possibly the over charge circuit. Anyway £9 well spent.

So anyone else excited by the Fenix 2?
Oh God, so pretty. I must have it.

Every time i load a file into new files (into new files) from a gpx converted to either a garmin track or a course (on gpsies) the garmin gets stuck at 'working' ….. on the power up. Any ideas why? it happened last week and I assumed the file was corrupted but now it happens all the time. I have added routes to the garmin this way a bunch of times before. I have reinstalled the device software.

Does the fenix 2 display/record power data?

Yes. Check DC rainmaker.

IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY.

Remove everything from Courses and NewFiles folders and see if it boots. Then you could copy the NewFiles back one at a time and see which one kills it. If you ID it, fix it using notepad or an online option.

It has happened with multiple files. Initially I thought it was a bad file. I removed everything and reinstalled the current Garmin OS and it worked, but then I had the same problems with a different file. Are people using GPSies or something else to convert from GPX to Garmin Courses?
-
• #889
I must be missing something obvious - but why do you need to convert them? Can't you just drop the .gpx into the 'New Files' folder?
-
• #890
Yeah, this. In the past I thought you needed to run them through GPSies or BRT but on an 800 it's not necessary, you just enable the turn-by-turn for each Course.

Soooo I want to buy a Touring model. Does anyone know if the bugs have been ironed out yet? Or should I just buy one and hope for the best?

I have one and haven't had any further troubles after initial 'operator error' and turning off various preloaded settings. Have used it for c 1500km so far and love it however now wish I had the plus model to use a heart rate monitor.

Sweet, thanks! I will get one tomorrow in that case. I don't suppose you've uploaded any of your own maps? One of its main tasks is to get me from San Francisco to Los Angeles in one piece...

Nope, have just used preloaded UK maps. Let me know if you have any questions when setting it up.

What's the difference with the touring and normal?
I used the 800 with europe maps when I went away 'touring', worked fine.

Touring is cheaper/doesn't do hr or cadence

AH. Thanks.

I bought a Touring Edge last weekend, so far so good, still getting used to using it. Going on a mini bike tour around the dales this weekend so I will be relying on it. I have loaded my routes on to it. Following a gpx route is fine, I also have tried using the navigator mode on a random ride, and it works really well. The only thing that is concerning me is the battery life, I reckon 6 hours tops going on the drain rate on a two hour ride. Luckily I have a battery charger thing so the longer days should be ok, providing I don't hit any issues.

6h sounds a bit low, if it's new.
I can get 10h out of the 800/810. Atleast. And that's abusing the battery life recording EVERYTHING that happens.
You could try not looking at the map page all the time, i understand that drains the battery.

I find it a bit odd that the Touring model doesn't have at least twice the battery life of the standard 800/810.
Have you tried booting it up without the memory card in it yet?
If that doesn't work, if the device/files can be found, I have un-bricked my 800 before by deleting all the activities off it whilst it was connected to a PC. Apparently one had got corrupted...
