Can anyone tell me how I can create a gpx file from a Course drawn in Garmin Connect?

Don't know but..
"You can only export GPX from garmin connect if you have uploaded the data from a course you have ridden, so until you have ridden the course you'll have to do it using easyGPS or similar software."

Saw that forum too. I have a Garmin 200 which will take the direct export just fine but my mate's Garmin (can't remember which flavour) won't. Will try the easy GPS thing tonight. Failing that, redraw the routes (birmingham to Dulwich over 3 days) in mapmyride and take the fox from there.

what make is your mate's garmin? You can export a GPX from connect.
-

One that you have created as a course though or one you have actually ridden, ie. a track? That's the issue here.

Created, not ridden.

His is a Garmin Dakota 10

no idea about Dakota but the newer garmin devices have a folder called NewFiles and if you paste the GPX file in there it picks up as a course, worth a try.

He can't get the 'created not ridden' course out of Connect though. There is no Export function for a 'created' course.

I have a 705 and have noticed sometimes, especially for long routes it takes ages/isn't loading my preloaded routes. The route for the Dartmoor classic wouldn't load, kept running through to 100% and just staying on screen with the 100%. It was also temperamental at the start of the Ditchling-Devils audex, but eventually loaded.
I am downloading the routes from ridewithgps as a gpx file on to the Garmin then going into saved routes. Is this a problem with my Garmin, my method or the routes have too many points?

Sorted it.
Easy GPS didn't seem to want to download. So, for reference (it was actually quite simple in the end);
Upload Courses from Garmin Connect to the Garmin 200
Browse to the Garmin 200 and copy the uploaded courses (.FIT files) to your desktop (probably not even necessary if you can access the 200 directly in the next step)
Go to an online converter (I used GPSies as it was first in the Google search), select the .FIT files (wherever you stored them - see above) and convert to .GPX
Bosh, GPX files will download.
I even uploaded them to mapmyride to check and they seem fine.

Is it possible to add more fields to the 'data' screen on the Edge 800?
ie. some rows contain a single large number (say power) and some rows contain two smaller numbers (say cadence and speed). Can I split the Power row so it shows Power and Distance?
What's the greatest number of 'panels' you can have on that screen?

910XT- normally it uploads automatically when you come within range of the ANT+ stick in the laptop.
It had to have repeated goes at this today, and when it finally announced that it had done so there was no ride in Garmin Connect.
If you connect via Strava's upload function todays ride is not visible.
Using Device Agent you can see that there are many files on the watch for today:
How do I put these together into one ride file?
I'd like to log the route as it was a fun one.

Basecamp can open and join multiple fit files. For PC the Mac version does not have this feature as fas as I know.

I'll have a go- issue is that only Device Agent even shows the files, and it cannot save onto the desktop as far as I know.

Will this memory card work in a 800 edge? http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/SanDisk/SanDisk-32GB-Mobile-Ultra-Micro-SD-%28SDHC%29-Card---Class-10-UHS-1-%2B-SD-Adapter
Ta!

2 things.
- I need a magnet that's super slimline to fit for cadence (800).
- Why does my garmin, when deciding a route decide on the hillier of the two options? Does it hate me? I mean initially it's charming, and the first couple of hills you're excited, but later on you just wish it would follow the flat road.
That being said, some roads I took today were absolute road porn.

stupid question, how do i see what time it is when using the edge200. I can only see the time if the garmin is paused!?

Rare earth magnet attached to pedal axle?
Garmin doesn't know the elevation profiles IIRC. It thinks everywhere is flat.

This. The Garmin maps don't have topographical data, (the topo maps show contour lines but the Garmin can't 'read' them) so they will occasionally take you up a 30% ramp to avoid an extra 200m of road.

Good to know.
It was fun anyway. -

who uses ride with gps with edge 510? I am loading a course using GPX and it keeps giving me warnings like 'head south' 'turn left' etc which interrupts the course interface. I used to do that with edge 200 and all I ever need is just a line that I can follow, none of this warnings shit. How do i turn them off? I went through literally every option on the device. Help!

Same experience with this nonsense, plus I had street names on 705. Apollo 11 and I am not Neil Armstrong. Import through bikeroutetoaster will give you blue line.
Quick question, which GPS "position format" do people use for London riding?
I'm setting up my new edge 500 and its asked me for that... Options include "British grid" and "hddd mm.mmm"... All a bit confusing
