  • You can use the Mount and some Shorter rubber bands to attach it to a watch strap/armband. But its probably just easier to buy a forerunner quick release strap. It'll be twisted 90 degrees. But at least its not bouncing around in a Pocket. Plus you can still read it (if at an annoying angle).

  • I really like the more streamlined size of my 920xt. So I'm not sure I want to fit a quick release. I've ordered the watch Mount, and hope that it'll be easy to modify to fit the profile of my Envy SES bars.

I've made a detailed sketch using mad skills....

  • Nice, cheers. Does it have running specific settings / options on the device, or do you just set it to record, then when uploading to Strava you say it was a run instead of a ride?

  • Didn't have such issue.

Was there a course running or an activity?
You can do a soft reset (deletes settings). I think it's holding top left hand of screen and turning it on/off but double check.
Also holding power in should get it to turn off. 20-30sec.

  • @ChrisMGS - I'll have a 310xt for sale soon if interested

  • If you're navigating a course with turn by turn on, but leave the course (say a road is closed so you go around) then re join course, garmin will register you're back on the course but does not pick up turn by turn.

Speaking of this, I remember there was some route that work pretty well even if I went off road.

Perhaps it's depend on where it's drawn from? must try ridewithgps and see if it cause similar issues.

  • It worked fine on a set of semi aero shaped 3ts I had a few years ago.

Just dig mine out for my wife who has just bought a 920xt - can't tell if it's just to annoy me or not!

  • Cheers. The profile of the enves is pretty flat. Raceware do a specific ahead mount. Not for the watches though.

  • Went off course today. Dropped turn by turn.
15 miles later, picked turn by turn back up.

    Jeez.

  • I borrowed a friend of mine my edge 200 as he was doing a c2c. What's the best way of joining and displaying the various different rides so they can all be looked at together?

  • Not too sure on the 200 but is there an option to permanently display the tcx tracks?
You can upload the courses to strava and use veloviewer to view them all together.
    http://veloviewer.com/

  • I think I may not of explained my self well enough as that confuses me...

What I meant to say was he has finished and wants to know if there any way to look at the recorded rides (I think he planned in sections so there are a few per day) all on one graph, maybe while maintaining the speed and altitude data. I've never done any multi-day events so I've never wanted to do this before.

Sneaky edit above renders this ^ explanation unecessary.

Any other way than strava to viewer. I don't think he has an account and I dont want to steal/claim his miles on my account

  • You can join the relevant fit files here
    https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/top
Garmins free program basecamp can import the relevant fit files and display the data.

  • Garmin have said I might need a replacement device!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxs1zxMTaRs

  • do you tend to get a stupidly high average speed on rollers, or do I need to look at how my gsc10 speed sensor is calibrated. https://www.strava.com/activities/286703497

  • Speed is speed.
So unless you've got like 60x11 or some huge gear it's not possible!

    Maybe reading double?

  • I've got a GPX Track of an audax. Rather than manually edit the xml, is there an app that will allow me to shuffle the points so the start is at another location on the loop?

  • How do you need to move the start? A loop is a loop and Garmin will navigate? My 800 threw some interesting tantrums on Saturday. Who's got an etrex 30 for a few weekends in May?

  • Use basecamp to split the track at where you want the new start point. Rejoin the two tracks at/near the original start/finish points.

  • No, because it gets the distance wrong if you start half-way around. ie. it says 200k to go when I've only just started it. I'm doing what the others have suggested and stopped using TBT nav and just following a line. Problem is I now need power to show on another device.
Hmm... I've got an etrex Vista HCx I could use for navigation and the 800 could be used for power.

  • Thanks, I'll give it a go.

  • If its the screen-Lock engaging itself as some sort of reaction to a route being uploaded/used. Then get another unit. My mate had this, and had to get a replacement. Which Garmin were cool about.

One bonus about making giltchy shit. Is that they have a well practiced replacement program.....

  • whats the max distance a course can be on a garmin 500? I can check this next time I ride, but can you create a course finish it, then load the next, without restarting the workout?

Basically I need to create a 120 mile course but I can split it up if needed.

  • tcx or gpx?

  • does one allow me to route furher? If so I'll go with that.
