well done everyone. Not bad for first ride of the season. Walked up whitedown but i think i shaved a minute off the last time I had to do that. Well done Corny and Laner. We dealt with a few mechanicals out there tonight and only missed the train by seconds literally watching it pull out.

TNRC 2011 has started.

What happened to Des and Tom?
-
• #632
Highlight of the ride was the train home; thanks for the beer and champagne. I needed it.
My experiment with nobly tyres for TNRC has concluded: It's fucking hard work. Especially on routes with long climbs. Previous experiments on routes with shorter, sharper climbs were much more successful.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a bit of pain when on the bike. But not like that.

What happened to Des and Tom?
I think Tom had a brake mechanical on the run in.

Morning y'all (apart from smiff as I expect after getting up at 5 this feels positively afternoonish)
Great run. 6pt what happened to riding back!? Bad luck to Tom who's (I imagine) off to find a replacement spring for a front brake, still can't see how a pothole would result in that.. What next, removing chainring bolts? And finally; Corny... Check your front brake is tight! :)

Great when things live up to how you remember them - splendid night all round, seeing the chain of lights snaking through the lanes was brilliant.
Sam, didn't catch you last night - sorry to hear your bad news.

Thanks everyone for making my first TNRC so much fun.
Special thanks to 6pt for lending me a front light (will get that back to you today, and Sam for keeping going chasing the train 2 group out at the start.
Next time will make sure my front derallieur works so i can get out of the big ring. -

Good night, lovely calm riding through the mist. Glad I had the gears as I tried to keep up with the rest of you. Nice talking to des who kept me company for most of the journey at the back of the pack. Thanks to tim (tiles) for the manhandling of those fucking campag rims. The sooner they see the sight of someone else's bike the better.
Think I enjoy climbing in the dark, as the only clue you have to how steep it is, are the lights off in the distance in front and above you windin away, so it's just head down and grind away. Almost made it over whitedown, but was riding all drunk at the last and only just above walking pace so stepped off walked about fifty to a hundred meters and low and behold the crest was there. Next time I'll just sit in and get there.
Was a great introduction to tnrc, see you all in two weeks hopefully, got some work on so will have to figure out an exit strategy.
And ben sometimes the eagerness to get back on the road makes the best of us stupid. -

Chapeaux.

Chapeaux indeed, considering she was doing the ride in converse!
My brake hand has pins and needles right now.

I thought the Converse added a touch of class!
My brake hand has pins and needles right now.
On a particular side?
