  • Anyway, you keep doing it your way and choose your tyre pressure to give either ride or handling, and I'll do it my way and get both.

Have to agree with this. I currently run 32c Panaracer Paselas on Halo Aerowarrior rims and have previously run exactly the same tyre on Open Pros. Imo the difference in handling is quite significant when running both setups at the correct pressure.

  • Hi gussio, were the SKSs a straightforward fit? What type of brake(s) are you running with the SKS/Pomp?

The Chromeplastics took a bit of modifying (drilled a hole in the rear 'guard to fit the screw into the hole on the rear stay bridge). Bit of fiddling to cut the 'guard stays. All in all, not too much hassle and they have been brilliant in terms of keeping water off me an being silent.

Brakes are Tektro CR720s, which are easily adjustable and I really like.

  • You can also bend the tab on the rear bracket to screw into the bottom of the bridge. In fact, I think I have a set that I don't need if you're interested? Will have to check when I get home..

  • Bit like Marmite, but I'm happy with 28c Conti Gatorskins. Rarely puncture, with reasonable rolling resistance and good grip. Good fit on my Pomp together with SKS Chromeplastics.

That's what i would normally buy but was wondering whether anything could be had for cheaper before i splashed out.

  • MY drive side crank, 170mm, is kissing the, insert correct name, horizontal tube to drop out. Non-drive side has a good 4mm clearance, but drive side just kisses, cranks are not bent.
Any ideas, seems weird? Don't think bb is to short as chainline is straight.

  • What cranks?

Mine did that with some Miche cranks, switched to different cranks that clear it before I got the hammer out.

  • Miche advanced.
    Interesting.

  • Aah.

At first I thought I might have bent cranks, which wouldn't actually have surprised me, I was going to 'crimp' the stay with my trusty hammer before I found some external bearing cranks which clear it easily.

  • Strange issue with them then. Thanks!

  • My pompino frame I bought recently off here, set up as my round town beater, impressed with it, they're alot of fun.

  • Issue with setting up cantilevers.

The cable guide that goes around the steerertube is pushing down on the headset, causing steering to be slow and thr pressure makes the headset tight. Is it thr design on the one i bought? As ive seen people in here with the guide on top of the headset.

Maybe canti levers arnt for me, id like the stem lower s mini vs might be better. I liked thr idea of cantis though.

  • Drill the fork and fit the Tektro cable hanger which mounts on the front of the fork crown. Many advantages, including allowing you to slam that stem.

  • This ? Can't find one to buy? Bar US amazon.

  • Yes, that. I thought SJSC had them

  • Skinny it sounds like you just need to loosen the topcap screw a bit to lessen the pressure on the headset. The canti mount works like a normal spacer, shouldn't be causing any particular problems.

  • Nah it's not that. Because of the shape of the hanger it comes at an angle and presss on the topcap of the headset. As below.
Managed to pick one up from condor, but thanks tester.

  • File it a bit?

  • Small spacer under it?

  • Just got the part tester suggest. Will work perfect and allow me to slam the stem for better drop height, as the headtube is quite long.

  • Just received my frame (and fork). I noticed there is no hole in the bottom bracket shell. Have you been drilling your frames?

  • hole?

    Anyhow...

  • ^what?! and ^^what?!

  • To let the water drain. It is for winter use.

  • Crack around non-driveside chainstay. It goes almost 50% of the way around! I've already been harping on around the forum about it, but essentially I've been hearing a knocking/clunking noise under acceleration. I thought it was the BB, it was not :(

Edit - Should be covered by 2 year warranty thankfully...
