  • I have one in blue from a medium frame, any good?

As far as I know the fork is the same no matter what the frame size. They certainly only have one size listed.

  • Universal On-one Pompino fork: baby blue.
    Headset included.

    anyones?

  • Probably worth mentioning steerer length

  • I dont know. Mechanical was recommended to me. This is my first experience with disc brakes so I had no clue what I was doing. It seems to do the job fine though.

Mechanical is good enough for most road uses I think. In fact the good ones overlap the low-mid hydras very easily is terms of feel and quality.

I'm getting on with it so far, was fairly simple to set up, seems to have plenty enough stopping power for what i'm using it for.

  • i'd like your opinions again guys,

300mm post is going to be more than enough in a size large frame for a guy of around 6ft right? i just (very roughly) measured, 33inch inside leg.

thanks in advance, just trying to work out swapping as much as possible over to the pomp that i should be the proud owner of by thursday!

  • Should be fine. I'm of similar proportions and have the large size with 350 mm post but could easily use a 300 mm.

i'll keep it in mind, thanks, but preferably i'm looking for the white one if i go with the pomp or a 3rd party black fork.

  • hey people, when you're building out your pompinos, do you go for 3/32 chains, or do you stick to the thicker fixie chains? and why?

    Cheers, Vlad

  • Depends on what chainring and cog you go for.

  • Although everyone loves a fixeh chain.

  • Personally stuck with 1/8 in all through and have got to quite like the dull rattling of the fixed chain. When I changed to a proper track chain the chain noise was a bit of a surprise.

well that's the whole point isn't it? Decide on a width and buy all components in that width. I have no existing chainrings/sprockets to work with, so I can choose one or the other at this stage - unless I am missing something...?

I was under the impression that all chainrings/sprockets were available in both 3/32 and 1/8 - Is this not the case?

  • Not all manufacturers make both 3/32 and 1/8, but there are lots that do.

interesting. So what is there that I can only get in one width and not another?

  • Freewheel WI ENO only comes in 3/32 - I run it with a 1/8 chain.

and you get no issues with this setup?

thanks cranky! i thought it should be enough, if not i will just keep it on the current frame set it is on and sell it with that aswell, trying to use as many of my own parts as i can for now!

    Only happy tears :]

As far as I know Halo stuff is only in 1/8 ".

  • so i ended up picking up the frame today, just got it back home and unwrapped it... absolute beaut! cant wait to get it built up, got some cool little ideas for it, still completely undecided on forks, idealy i want something straight

also these plug type things on the rear brake bosses what are they/how do i remove them when i come to fit my brake haha?
absolute noob on this stuff never had to deal with a new frame that is brake compatible, pressuming i could go for v brakes or cantis on this
if so what are the pros and cons of each as ive never had cantis before either.

  • Pull them.

  • The ones on my rear and front bosses were quite stiff. One I had to grip gently with pliers and twist to get it to budge.

  • yeah i figured just as much! thanks, left one is off, right one however is very stiff, yeah i think i'll try that cranky thanks again.

any thoughts on Cantis vs V brakes?
