  • Surely if you're using flat bars you may as well have hydro brakes?

Pretty sure my mate picked up a full set, with levers and all for c£60

  • The new deore brakes are awesome, can't recommend them highly enough and you can pick them up cheap. Either M596 or M615.

  • Almost done with mine, just need to black out the braking surfaces and attach the rack once it arrives.

  • "Jim fixed it for me"..pretty bad taste dude....'specially with the further investigation and the shit load of victims.

  • means no one will steal my bike though.

  • Hang on, yunouse hydro?!

  • I dont know. Mechanical was recommended to me. This is my first experience with disc brakes so I had no clue what I was doing. It seems to do the job fine though.

But somebody might mistake you for a sympathiser and either trash it or trash you.

  • we'll see, so far most people have just laughed at it.

  • Is anybody running cantilever brakes at the rear of their Pompino with a barrel adjuster at the frame cable housing stop?

On my rear brake I have a Jagwire in-line barrel adjuster (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/jagwire-in-line-cable-adjusters-for-brake-gear-cables-prod24781/) at the front (in the rear cable) and I've decided it looks messy and wish to tidy it up. The only problem is the barrel adjuster doesn't fit the frame stop.

Can anyone recommend a barrel adjuster that will fit?

Don't put it at the stop, cut a gap in your cable and put it there, personally I put about an inch of cable between it and the brake lever (will work right up to some levers) then the rest of outer too the stop.

  • Good luck...still poor taste tho IMO. Nice build as well.

  • Holy motherflipper, THAT would be the bike of my dreams right now!

Loving the guards and the rack - just what I need for my commute.

    Nice one!

Just added mudguard and rack on my dad's Pompino.

    48/18 gearing a touch high but usable (48/19 on fixed);

Been riding it around lately (needed to go into work to fit the mudguard), was pretty fun and relaxing to ride with a freewheel, I now know how Josh feel.

  • just finished this.

  • just finished this.

    Looks pretty snazzy.
I can't decide between a Vbrake back and front or a disc front and a V back.
Any chance of a parts list, if it's not too much to ask?
Either way, what fork is that?

    Cheers

  • Kona P2.

Purely aesthetics though, maybe flip the stem the other way and move the spacers on top of the stem. Looks much better IMO.

  • Yeah was considering that, or maybe buying a stem with more of an angle and then slamming it.

There is a link to my pedalroom page in Names and Faces to bikes for anyone who wants to see a parts list.

Thanks. But I'm new to the site and not sure how to get there. I tried looking at your profile, but no luck.

What chain line do you get at the front with the Omnium and how much clearance is there between the 48t chainring/spider and the chain stay?

I have a Stronglight crankset with 44t chainring on the corresponding 107 mm bb there is very little clearance 1.5 mm at most.

    Ta

  • Pretty much bang on 42mm chain line I think, I haven't measured it though. I'll take a clearance pic for you tomorrow.

  • strongly considering buying the on one from the sale thread atm, can anyone point me in the direction of a budget front fork that is v brake compatible?

    thanks!

  • On-One's own fork for the Pompino, on their site. About as budget-friendly as it gets.

Thanks. Depending in the picture I may ask Santa for an Omnium.
