They do, but you'd have to pay a premium for them. Superstar components will build you a ss hubbed wheelset.

Try searching for DMR 135mm single speed disc hubs. Sub 50 quid for hub. The benefit is that you have a stronger wheel as you need not dish it.

There are a few OTP SS 29er wheelsets but it'd be easier to get one one built. Still going to be pricey...
SS cassette-style hubs: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/135mm_free_hubs/c148.html
135mm threaded hubs http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/135mm_fixed_hubs/c21.html or there's Paul/Phil Wood/Surly etc.Thought about building your own wheels?
yeah could get my own built, thats what I'm doing for my Pompino, just wondered if there were some cheap OTP wheels out there.
I think that DMR hub is my best bet, nice one.

Which freewheel are you thinking of?
If you need quick engaging ones, I would recommend the Echo 108 SL trials. Word of caution though, it is very loud and you will need to spray GT85 every now and then as the internal contains virtually no grease.
There are a few other options here: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/complete_freewheels/c16.html
For quick engagement and little or close to no maintenance go for the White Industries Trials, ordering one from the US might work out cheaper than buying one in the UK from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/White-Industries-ENO-TRIALS-Freewheel-18-tooth-/261278883256?pt=US_Cassettes_Freewheels_Cogs&hash=item3cd56f5db8

I was thinking of going for the Halo Clickster, the price seems to be okay at around £40 .. this is all just an attempt at pricing up a build at the moment, it might not actually happen.

What forks? If you are planning to go for front disc, I have a Kona Project 2 disc only for sale.

Get your Halo Clickster a bit cheaper from here. £33
I've ordered two from that ^ place and they both arrived within a few days.

cheers for the offer, this build wont be happening until the new year if it even happens at all, I'm just pricing it up for her at the moment.

I'm thinking of rescuing my Pompetamine from my parents' shed and using that through the winter rather than my new fixed bike. I love it, but if I'm not using it in winter, and I'm not riding cross on it, why do I even own it?
To that end, I started looking to see if there was a picture of a Pompino/Pompetamine which had mudguards but still looked good. Didn't have to look further than the top of the previous page. That might have made my mind up!

Anyone using the Midge bars (or similar) on their Pomp? I would be interested in hearing how you get on with them, pros and cons (and any pics of set up!).

I had some on mine for a few weeks, they are languishing in the shed now.
I mainly use my Pomp on the road - much as I might kid myself on it's a CX bike it's not - and I found the Midges too wide. Like waaaaaay to wide. I felt like a big sail with them on.
Also found the bottom part really short, to the point where I was worried about slipping off them on anything a bit bumpy.

I had midges for a bit, and felt like I was doing a passable impression of superman in flight on my way to work. Much happier with road drops (for road use)
-
• #2715
Probably worth adding that I didn't feel they have me any extra positions over regular drops.

Hated midge bars now using Salsa wood chippers- midges had no noticeable drop the wood chippers have taken a while to get in the right position, the levers look wrong but feel ok to ride.

Converting my Pomp from road to CX. So far this has involved putting on a pair of 35c Racing Ralphs that just about fit with current chain length. Gearing is 48x17 which is awesome fun on the flat, but miserable on any sort of incline. I'm stuck with the 17t freewheel (it is a WI one which I can't afford to change) so am looking at purchasing a smaller chain ring. Cranks are 130bcd.
Is there an accepted sensible range for sscx gearing? I figured something like 44x17 but that still looks a bit heavy (70" according to Sheldon when using 35c tyres).
Any recommendations a reasonable replacement chain ring?

I am running 34-16t and although spinny on the flat is OK for climbing- any single speed is going to be a compromise, depends if you are driving out to play or using every day.
Having a 130BCD road crank not sure you can go much below a 38t on the front, I know there is some kind of wisdom about 2:1 single speed gearing off road.

I'm planning on running 39x17 on mine for cross, seems to be at the higher end of what's recommended for sscx though
-
• #2720
I'd actually go 39T for the rougher, muddier stuff. 42t would be fine for parks and tow paths though.
-
• #2722
Thanks for quick responses - will try and track down something in the region of 40T. Richmond Park is my playground at the moment. The Tamsin trail is fantastic at night, at least for another couple of weeks until the deer cull starts. For the first time since childhood I'm actually looking forward to some snow....

Are these any good?
http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/BCTK926MV/tektro_mini_v_926al___a_pair_front_and_rearI've got them on my pompino - work fine. A bit on / off (not much in the way of modulation) but plenty of power. They work well with drop levers and seem happier with wider rims for some reason.

Should work fine with these:
