Ha. I thought I'd managed it with normal housing, installing it very carefully to make sure it didn't introduce friction, and I had one ride where it was fine. Did a wet ride the next week and it fucked it. Any friction in the system stops them working entirely, it seems. On an externally routed frame I had no issues in 2+ years or commuting and cross riding.

Looks like about £60-70 on eBay so £50? One of the cable clamp bolt holes has threaded so it needs a nut and bolt. Did it the first time I installed and it's not been an issue since!

Fine, go fill your brakes with water and do a sketchy descent down a welsh valley dragging your brakes with 30kg of luggage. Let me know how you get on ;)
-
• #6205
Just kidding... What do you mean with normal housing?
-
• #6206
Non-compressionless. I tried compressionless but the bend required to get it round the bottom bracket introduced a load of friction, inner cable wouldn't return properly, hydraulic system couldn't refill, braking disappeared! The front, with compressionless housing, feels as good as the full hydro on my other bike.

TBF, the CAAD12 as well as other Cannondale bike are pretty poorly designed.
The exception is that they ride really well but Jesus, even with rims brake, it all feel like an afterthought.

I think I have some alligator or nokon links in the spare box, reckon 2 or 3 inches should be enough?

Should be able to use the usual BH90 olive and insert with the RS785.

Beware the hose clamp nut thing needed for the lever end of the 8020s is different to the one found on MTB and RS785 levers. You need one that looks like this.

Bh90 hose is already attached to the lever. I got the rs785 new but it doesn't have any nut attachment. Am I right in thinking I need this bit https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brakes/shimano-smbh90-flange-connecting-bolt-unit-m9-for-str9120r9170-y8rd98010/

Yeah, plus postage which should be £4. Newish pads as well I think. Only £50 because of the issues with retaining bolt!
-

That bolt is for connecting at the shifter end.
This is for the caliper end:

That's awesome, thank you! Saved me a lot of frustration there. Is there a recommended 8020 bleed kit? Hard to know which one to get (or whether it's easier to just go to the LBS)

https://epicbleedsolutions.com/ and grab a shimano cup jobby for burpy fun. Shifters usually come with the cup adapter thing but if not get one of them too.

shimano cup jobby for burpy fun.
Need to be in Shimano documents that.
It sound like it need a lots more oil than burping the air out, but a quick and easy solution for now without having to rebleed the whole thing.

• #6221
I like this tho, much better than the shallow cup that Shimano normally provide with the bleed kit.

Shimano copying sram shocker

I like a syringe on either end for most stuff but find that cup and a hundred lever squeezes will basically fix anything.

• #6224
Do you rate mt501+mt520 as poor man 4 pot combo?

Epicbleed is actually, Shimano cup are entirely different and are open;
User error... ;)
