  • And the end of the day, it is down to the opinion of the individual and nobody should be able to judge.

As lovely an idea as that is, it's also completely bullshit.

If nobody should be able to judge that person because they have decided to have their face cut up then nobody should be able to make a judgement about someone that chooses to be visibly tattooed with white power symbols, someone that chooses to wear a tracksuit as opposed to a tailored suit or taken to the extreme, someone who chooses to act in a sexually inappropriate way around children.

The ability and right for one person to look at another's appearance and behavior and make a judgement of that person are fundamental to interacting with others.

  • Grey areas. Grey areas.

  • Tragus more painful than an industrial?
My industrial hurt more than anything else I have had

  • Ive not had industrial but have got helix and snug done. Tragus was less painful than both.

But again, everyone has different pain tolerances.

  • Indeed. I dont think the idea of the pain is actually going to put me off.

  • Just make sure you don't get it done with a ring, do it with a short barbell or a small labret stud, as less movement for it to heal nicely.

  • As said ^

They're all through the cartilage so will all be fairly similar.

  • Cool, Claire at WWW.tattooagogo.co.UK is who I always use, she knows her onions.

  • These are the people I always go to - http://www.silverhandjewellery.com/tattoo/piercing.htm
Not the closest to home but they're the ones I trust.

Good good, I prefer Self Sacrifice
I was just trying to be helpful.

Not sure I'd trust a place which does gunned piercings also.

My most trusted studios that I go to is Quentin or John from Kalima Worthing, or Holier than thou, Manchester.

  • They only use the gun for people who specify - mothers with their daughters etc. As it's in the middle of town they get all sorts of people in not just hardcore modders.
They're better than my local one. Seen a few wonky scaffolds turn nasty.

  • You don't need to be a hardcore modder.
You can't autoclave the gun or the jewellery that comes with it. It's disgusting. They could just offer needle piercings to children/babies also if they must.

  • Most mums wouldn't pay the needle price, would just go to Claires accesories unfortunately.

  • I understand what you're saying. But some people insist on the gun, something about not being able to see the needle and it all being over and done with in 2secs. The gun is hardly ever used and they do advise people to take the needle piercing over the gun. You can tell people something is safer than something else but 9 times out of 10 that person will stick to what they believe already.

Claires or Blue Banana le shudder

  • I understand. Urgh!

  • I know of people who had cartilage done via guns.
    Bad times.

  • I had my ear done by gun when I was 13, before I knew better, I was lucky. I had it repierced (restretched?) with a needle when I was 16.

I've found some links for anyone (not you previous posters) in case they would like to read about piercing guns vs piercing needles

Why a Needle Piercing is Superior to a Gun Piercing
    by Lish Daelnar

    Piercing guns are blasphemy!

Do Piercing Guns Suck? BME REVIEWS THE STUDEX SYSTEM 75

    And from BME's wiki.

A piercing gun, traditionally used by mall stores for piercing ears, is typically inappropriate for piercing of any kind. Almost all medical professionals agree that piercing guns cannot be adequately sterilized (an alcohol wipe is not sterilization); this means that they are capable of passing hepatitis and other diseases.
In addition, experience has taught the industry that:
Ear piercing studs are dull and tear through the body, causing unnecessary pain, healing duration, and other possible complications.
Ear piercing guns are inaccurate and not designed for piercing most body parts, resulting in improper piercing placement.
Ear piercing studs are the wrong size and too short for most piercings. The small gauge (generally 20g) and short length are not optimal for healing.
Any piercer using a piercing gun should be avoided.

  • Cartilage with guns? You'd be better off taking a BB gun and doing it knowing the inaccuracy of piercing guns

  • I know right?

  • Ha ^ truth!

  • I've had the top of my ear and my nose! done with a gun.
    Not recommended!

  • Ugh guns, some of the yuck things I have seen and had to sort out from guns being used. Like a navel being done with a gun, had to dig it out - then relised the butterfly was STILL in there pretty deep (about 2-3mm under the first dermal layer) - took ages and she was left with a pretty nasty scar, luckily when we repierced it 6 months later I managed to hide the scar a bit.. she learnt her lesson

  • sayin that my first non self done piercing was a upper cartilage that went baaaad - I also learnt my lesson

  • Baaaad? A mile off straight?

  • I love having custom made jewellery. Especially stone.
