  • I'm up for trying it on sunday. i thought the meeting was at your house dan? did that plan change?

  • I put it out there; nobody says anything; MG says she prefers the pub; Neil thinks it's arranged...

    Forum 26 dilemma in action.

    Let's stick with the pub - it's a mission for MG/EMM/Asim otherwise.

  • To clarify: nobody referring to the previous post or my earlier suggestion of my place is tacit agreement to keep it at the Spotted Dog.

    Okay?

    No, wait, don't say anything!

  • remember: no face cage = no polo

  • I did ask if we were still on for The Spotted Dog... tumbleweed!

  • that helmet would fit you dilla

  • You reckon? I've got a massive moon face!

...are you saying I need even more protection for next time you wipe me out :P

  • ...pretty much. :)

  • lets all measure our heads now.

  • I measured mine with a metal tape (ouch). Came up at 55cm-ish
And my face cage is a medium mens to which I had to add extra padding at the back

  • i got 22.5 inches - 58ishcm.

  • Mine's a 58-er.

  • 54cm I think. I always have to wear a cycling cap with my 52-58cm helmet so maybe my head is small but just inherently round. I think I'll put that on watch so no-one else bid on it!

  • Things we might want to think about (please add to this):

    • Recruiting new players/maintaning current numbers
    • Team formation
    • Improving competitive play through league/drills
    • Sorting out goals
    • Finding an indoor court/tournament worthy court
    • Voting a Bham rep for UKHBPA
    • Availability for the regional Bench Minor in Cambridge
    • Events we could get involved in, Sustrans, Council, etc...
      • Is there a better way to communicate (especially arranging games) than the forum?
  • wherever it is, i'll be there after polo.

  • Sorry, I copied that from Jess' post earlier to add something on at the end, not to triple-clarify location.

  • Here's Wicksie's Oak Cycles chop-job photos, if anyone cares.

QUOTE=Wicksie;2548562]So there seems to be no photos of my NS traffic built up, pre-op which is a shame. If anyone stumbles across one, I'd love to see it.

I loved my NS traffic polo bike, it had everything I wanted except for it was way too long with it's 57cm TT.

I spoke Ryan (Oak Cycles) about this and discussed what I was looking for and what he could do, and he did this

    The geo is now:
    head tube-70 degrees,
    rake 45,
    trail 68, with 35mm tires.
    51cm effective TT
    96cm wheel base.

    Before and after

    My new Oak Traffic

It handles really well and has turned out better than I ever imagined. I feel like I have my own custom frame and am able to put a longer stem and smaller tyres (bang on trend) for better handling and weight saving.
It's going to take some getting used to, to get the most out of it, but after just one session I could turn really tight corners and see a massive potential.

Ryan is an actual genius and I would definitely recommend Oak Cycles to anyone.

    The end.[/QUOTE]

The head angle looks well slack now though. Maybe would be better if you put some shorter, zero rake forks on it?

  • It does look slack, but 68mm trail is quite a lot, and straighter forks will just exacerbate that, although it would reduce the front centre and wheelbase so swings meet roundabouts.

My Merino will (theoretically) have 58mm trail, whereas my Pompino w/massive tyre has 75 or something ridonculous.

  • Dan, come and play polo tonight instead of just thinking about it.

  • Yeah, the 2-on-2 games last week were actually a lot of fun. I'm getting to like those games, as you seem to be a lot more active without the 3rd person, especially on the larger calthorpe court

    #jus sayin

  • Dan, come and play polo tonight instead of just thinking about it.

Didn't see that. I had my old dears over for dinner and have a sumbitch of a cold anyway.

2 v 2 can be fun but don't get me started on the perma-goalie thing when we have mini goals. I think if we find 2 v 2 more engaging, it's showing us that our goalies aren't active enough.

Is somebody going to agenda, chair and minute this?

MG likes doing that kind of thing, right?

  • narrows eyes What are you trying to say?

  • Just that you tend to chair meetings...

Probably better to split those roles up, though.
