EMM, that is one truly dreadful coat. I hope whichever woman made you wear that provided ample recompense

26th then?

• #1582
Much as I love that this is finally happening, who decided the 19th? It's an odd choice for several reasons... I probably won't make it. Might want to take into consideration Andy is back on the 12th too.
Also Sebastian left a note on the Facebook page: http://www.blog.sebastiandahl.com/post/16936825483/visiting-milena-in-birmingham-3-first-picture

too bad that you've already bought a Merino Dan, you could have got one of these bad boys. Looks great for polo:
Nah, I don't like it. It'd probably weigh a tonne and I'm hoping to save some lbs compared to my Pompino, which is 27lbs.
I wanted 26" with little tyres, V-Brakes and ultra-compact geometry. Should be here mid-Feb, I hope.

Hello all
I have just completed placing an order for 20 perro polo mallet poles. The poles are 7075 aluminium and have been tried and tested on the polo scene as most of you will know.
They have cost me £7.43 a pole. so I am going to say 7.50 a pole I hope that is agreeable to everybody :)
Anyway please put your name down if you want any.

3.much love

So we all on for the 12th at The Spotted Dog right??
Things we might want to think about (please add to this):
- Recruiting new players/maintaning current numbers
- Team formation
- Improving competitive play through league/drills
- Sorting out goals
- Finding an indoor court/tournament worthy court
- Voting a Bham rep for UKHBPA
- Availability for the regional Bench Minor in Cambridge
- Events we could get involved in, Sustrans, Council, etc...
- Recruiting new players/maintaning current numbers

Forgot to say I'm going to look at some courts after work today so if anyone wants to come along, meet me outside On Your Bike at 6pm. It's a 5 min ride.

The courts I looked at tonight are a five minute ride from Highgate and really easy to get to:
No 1 shows two netball courts that belong to Small Heath Leisure Centre. Pros: about the size of Highgate each with no permanent baskets, floodlit and access to toilets and changing rooms. Cons: no barriers, surface similar to Calthorpe, cost £17/hr to hire (although manager said he'd do us a deal for the weekend).
No 2 shows two side by side basketball courts that AFAIK belong to the city council. Pros: really big courts (Calthorpe length but even wider) with barriers, plenty of space for spectators/bikes between them and in a fully enclosed area. Cons: no lights, could be an issue with securing them for an entire weekend.
Basketball courts up close. I only rode around them in the dark and they felt/looked good but I want to check the camber and surface properly tomorrow or ASAP.
Here is the google maps link, zoom in to see courts. What does everybody think??

Good work MG. Courts 2 looks sick! We'd need to liberate some wood to cover the side gaps and goals though, but I'm up for carrying stuff down there and doing a bit of DIY!
Also, I could maybe spare an hour tomorrow if you want to do a trial sesh

Both look like good finds. Will come and check them out this weekend!
-
• #1596
Awesome. I really hope they don't have some stupid problem in the daylight, I was so happy when I rode around them but they seem too good to be true! I've got alot to do tomorrow so I probably won't head up until 2ish. My phone's broken but I'll check here and FB in the morning if anyone wants to come along.

Anyone want some 3pmh heads? http://3pmh.de/ The ones me and Hyper use, although you can get single/double cheater versions too. They come with dowel and screws to make fitment a relative breeze.
If we get 20, we get free postage. They are 6.50 Euros each (£5.45 at the moment). I'm happy to do the paying, but I'm going to want the monies in advance.
Yes I want a proper mallet not this piece of shit I've been messing around with for months:
- danwentskiing - noncheater x 4
- Lucas - noncheater x 4
- danwentskiing - noncheater x 4

Good work MG - court two looks great, but we need to pin down the council on hire which is like nailing a fish to the wall. Maybe showing what other cities achieve (eg Newington) would push them into some sort of decision.
Awesome that there's two courts, barriers and enough space for people to hang about.
Only 12 more heads needed for our Groupon multi-buy to go through!

Okay, so I headed up to the double courts today to solo polo. There were a few kids playing football so I didn't get a chance to use the full length but I got a feel for them, the surface feels rougher than Highgate but not as bad as Calthorpe if that makes sense? I was worried as one was higher than the other that they might slope slightly but I couldn't detect this and the ball didn't roll when I left it in random spots. I dribbled the ball round the entire perimeter of one court and there is a couple of points where it could go under the barriers/out of a gap which for a tourney could be solved with a few bits of 2x4/sliding board.
I uploaded some photos to my flickr so you guys can see properly. The next step is obviously to have a few games on there sometime in the next few weeks and see what everyone else thinks. I've already drafted up some emails to send out to various people at the Council if we think it's a go-er. I'm still gonna keep looking for other possibilities though.

Looks great - shall we try this Sunday? If it's shit/we get moved on, Highgate is just a small ride away and we're going that way for the meeting anyway...
