I'd love to go but obviously Dan gets first dibs on the Saturday off work and then I'll see what the boss man says (before registration opens of course)...

Yeah, I've booked the Saturday off.
We'll have to take it in turns or something...

Anyone want some 3pmh heads? http://3pmh.de/ The ones me and Hyper use, although you can get single/double cheater versions too. They come with dowel and screws to make fitment a relative breeze.
If we get 20, we get free postage. They are 6.50 Euros each (£5.45 at the moment). I'm happy to do the paying, but I'm going to want the monies in advance.
**Yes I want a proper mallet not this piece of shit I've been messing around with for months: **

Well, I don't see myself quitting, and I have to have spares for all you feckless wastrels who make one mallet every six months, then 'borrow' someone else's when it brakes for the next six months. And I thought if I get four, then there's a chance we'll make it to 20.

'Bike polo has a strong DIY ethic'
]Ha - I should change that to: "Bike polo used to have a strong DIY ethic until people discovered German design and quality and the weakness of the Peruvian nuevo sol".

get a resin cap, them lasts for yonks
-
• #1560
Yeah, but they weigh four times as much as a proper mallet head, and bring your goals to shot ratio in line with Monty's today.
-
• #1561
ooh cutting!
-
• #1562
your telling me caps make shots less accurate?
but fuck it i want to be playing polo not making mallets
-
• #1563
your telling me caps make shots less accurate?
I tried caps myself and didn't like them, and some of the best shooters around don't use them. Having said that, other people do well with them.
I reckon y*ou're one, *despite being inventive and good quality, is so hard to maneuver, it messes up the timing of your swings and negates and potential increase in accuracy provided by the cap. A couple of hundred grams sounds trivial, but at the end of a 1m shaft it feels a lot more heavy.
I also hate making mallets, but I hate playing with shit ones more.

That makes sense.
I think I've created a problem in that I'm now pretty atrocious whenever I use anyone else's lighter mallet.
-
• #1565
Just give it time - it takes a few hours of play to get used to a new mallet I reckon.
(Wasn't having a go by the way)

I'm ok for heads, think i'm going to make a another mallet with the spare set Rob wanted 6 months ago and repay him when I next see him.

I don't think they'll post, or sell to other cities. It's about supporting London players, no?
-
• #1568
Has anybody asked John H before if he minds doing it?
Also, I hate to say I told you so Dan!

MG was right. My finger is most certainly not on the pulse.
I'll probably try to get some for myself at the next tournament or if I'm in London.
-
• #1570
I'd take one if we got 20 but i agree that's probably unlikely
-
• #1571
too bad that you've already bought a Merino Dan, you could have got one of these bad boys. Looks great for polo:

Is anyone in brum after a polo bike? - I'm looking to sell my 15.5'' mtb, (531 frame, so not too heavy) with 26 x 2.0 good slick tyres, can chuck in a good condition granny ring for the triple chainset and a variety of sprockets for the freehub at the back - should be easy to get the gearing down nice and spinny. Will list it in classifieds in a few days time once i've cleaned it up - Probably be around the £100 mark.

Let's get it on!
Meeting Sunday 19th or 26th Feb. Spotted Dog. After polo.
