*please google this before you try, i'm not 100% sure but something along those lines

I googled a similar resolution, so it seems right. Helpful actually as I have a pair of shoes somewhat diminished in appearance by the saline blight.

I am quite taken by these - don't know when I would ever wear them though

End of February and winter behind us.
Which proper leather shoes stood the test? Cold, rain, sleet, ice, snow, grit, mud etc.

my wolverine 1000 mile's did great part from cobblers messing them up a few times

Yeah, someone else recommended wolverines too. Might grab me a half price bargain now that the season is over.
Would the stitching on the top of the toe area let water in?

Would you wear these casual Timberlands for winter? I know I'm being weird talking of winter boots now, but I have my reasons.
Quite nice chukka boots these:

This time of year, might be salt stains from the road grit.
If so its in the leather and masking it with polish won't work. You need to clean them with a 1:1 white vinegar/water solution. Don't rub just use a stationary cloth on the white section to dissolve and draw out the salt, let them dry slowly and repeat as required. Only when the white has gone can you start with the polish to get the colour back. -

I just can't enjoy the look of those seamless shoes.

I love the purist beauty of them, but they are just the tiniest bit pointless, as once they are worn, the smooth pure lines crinkle. Still, it is a bit of a showoff for a cobbler, to make a shoe upper from one piece of leather. I appreciate a master craftsman showing the upper limits of their skill.
A junior cobbler would ruin many hides trying to acomplish the same thing. I think it must be far, far easier to stich together small pieces of cut leather.
