I really don't think i did miss the point, I've been around on this forum long enough to know that these threads are just vehicles for people to parade their cooler-than-thou knowledge of various brands; the more obscure and exclusive, the better.
You always feature prominently in these, of course.
Enjoyed the camp little 'X' mark at the end of your post - made you appear frivolously superior yet benign and playful, in exactly the way you might have wished ; cut me to the quick, i must say.

These guys are just around the corner from me - poor chap who works there had a beautiful bike which recently has been posted in the stolen bikes thread. She's a beauty.
They also do cycling shoes, last time I looked.
There aren't any men's shoes. It's all for your doxy!

If that's how you see it, then you must be right.
I just like stuff and am a complete nerd.
Crawl back into your shell.

What's the point nimhbus?
Does being here for a long time give you the right to be an utter imbecile, every time you post? -
• #484
Pretty much, yes.
It's just that the willy-waving really gets my back up. Watching everybody trot out their favourite brand of brogue, for crying out loud? it's more than a reasonable man can bear.

Alfred Sargent really is a top class leather worker. I wonder if there is actually any better in Britain. Seriously? Possibly not. Magical shoes.
And some of the prices are surprisingly not so astronomic as one one expect. £240 for a piece of wearable art is reasonable to me. But many of the shoes are priced at a premium. No shock there. I apologise to one and all, but this really is a porn thread to me.
This is a fixed gear bike forum. it's for the discussion of, and regarding, fixed gear bikes. you have been very vocal in the past when people try to discuss geared bikes, have you not?
So, what exactly do you think you're playing at?

What shoes do you like nimhbus?

Crocket & Jones should be on the list. One of the better Northampton shoe makers. They used to have a factory shop where you could pick up bargains. The ruse in the old days was that if you knew someone who worked in the factory, which was nearly everyone in Northampton, then you'd get them to deliberately soil a pair of shoes you wanted and go and get them from the factory shops as 'seconds' at the weekend.
For those that don't know, Trickers is the factory used in the film Kinky Boots. My grandfather who worked in the leather industry in Northampton and he felt they were one of the best. If you had your own lasts they would make a pair of shoes for you but I doubt they still do this.

As may have been gathered so far, I am a fan of traditional leather shoes. The Braemar is the shoe.
beautiful shoes. you should have a word with the military man at spitalfields or one of the sellers of military shoes on the bay. i had a pair of these shoes which i acquired from an army surplus man. i had to get rid of them because much as though i loved the way the looked they were uncomfortable. each time i would wear them hoping that things would change but they never did. it was probably just my feet and that pair more so than the brand or style. they look fabulous with a kilt.
i will try asking around for you. they were not as much as 124.00 less than half of that. oh happy days :-)ps keep sharing your passions.
bicycles are the reason i came but are not the only reason i stay.

This made me smile. I went to school in east northants which had an AirWair factory in every village. Every kid in the school walked round in £10 factory second DMs.
Sadly just offices left now...all shipped out to China....I remember when it was all just fields....

You're wrong. It's not a fixed gear forum, otherwise I'd never have joined it. Yes, I only ride bikes with one gear, and I eschew electronics in my photography, and I like old school quality......that I can ill afford. I find the miscellany here to be largely fun, and sometimes informative. So sue me.
Nimbly, I can't be bothered to justify myself to the likes of you, as you disappeared off my radar years ago. Good luck in life mate, and be happy.

Is it just me, or do all these shoes look goofier and uglier the more expensive/high quality/bespoke they get?
The shapes of OTP low-mid price shoes look way better, more stylish, less bulky and more refined.

Not necessarily, you're just looking at too many of Cirsh's posts.
These are really nice: -

real bespoke shoes can sometimes look wonky because the last is made exactly to the
shape of the customer. so ugly feet make ugly shoes -

Some people like thin, soft "modern" shoe styles. They have their place, but truly quality leather shoes have a weight and sturdiness that cannot at the same time be soft and slim. I find such shoes to be rather effeminate, and to he honest, a good strong shoe, made by an artisan, appeals to me.
Different strokes, different folks. But the younger one is, the less likely one would appreciate such old fashioned style and quality.

Just saying, but I have been dropping brands that are WAY more exclusive (and probably more obscure) then any one else and its been bringing the haters out in full force

Just saying, but I have been dropping brands that are WAY more exclusive (and probably more obscure) then any one else and its been bringing the haters out in full force because they're not proper leather shoes built on a tradition of quality but purely fashion, therefore missing the point of the threads' title.

from sanders. there's something i like these. maybe because they are from a good stable and remind me of a time when prada was new on the block (in my mind anyway) and making interesting and good quality casual shoes.
Well done knobwipe, you missed the point entirely.
And no one's bickering.
But thanks anyway for your contribution.
