i was going to get a pair of the bean boots about 6 months ago, but was unsure how the import duty thing would go so didn't bother. Can you get them here?
Have been slightly diswayed (is that a word?) by seeing a version of them in some terrible aspirational/country/collegate mail order catalogue for the middle classes a few weeks back though.
B.
I got a pair in NYC a few years back. Can also get them on eBay for around £40/50 + around £20 postage. Anything less than £50 and you won't get charged customs/VAT fees.
Just ask the sender to lower the value -

Wearing 3k shoes means it's unlikely that you will encounter someone else wearing the same shoes.
I don't get people hating on over priced clothing, not everything boils down to the workmanship put in to the garment/pair of shoes, or the materials used in their construction.
This is how Tom Ford advertised his £6000+ croc loafers.
He has beautiful shoes but they are absurbly expensive.

Whoa, those are fuck ugly! The ones in the link, that is.
-
• #382
The croc loafers are mint.
The linky shoes are pukeworthy.

Tom Ford's a genius. Not necessarily a great designer (because let's face it- he's always attracted to the late 60's/early 70's), but an incredible stylist.

I saw a pair Kurt Geiger branded Tricker's in Liberty's the other week. They were fooking lovely and they look this...
...except even nicer in the flesh. That's a crepe sole, not Vibram. Shiny navy blue leather with a suede shaft. Mega. There was another pair in dark brown with red laces...
-
• #387
they do look lovely but i fear those crepe soles will look not so lovely when they have dust and all manner of things attached to them. thats the annoying thing about crepe soles.
-
• #388
True, my desert boots look awful.

In a hypothetical world of sartorial excellence and limitless cashflow, what shoes would one have in ones wardrobe? I don't mean anything overly flash, but staples...?

- derby or punch hole brogues - not fashion or quirky ie j.West
- casual loafers - penny loafer, bass weejun etc
- george boot
other essentials
- sturdy boots - good for hiking or working
- wellingtons - steel toe green or black
- trainers - for purpose not fashion
- derby or punch hole brogues - not fashion or quirky ie j.West

They are nice.
I wouldn't worry about the soles. Wear and enjoy. Then give the remains to a charity and buy new, FFS!All this talk about worries reminds me of my stepson and his friends. Everything brand new, new era hats, immaculate trainers. When the first signs of wear appear, he'd moan that he needs new clothes. And some older guys than him taking everything to the dry cleaners. Oi! Stop! You're not Tony Montana! Enjoy your clothes.
