These are hideous, and not 'proper' leather.
Have you all taken leave of your senses?
Oh.
As you were, hipsters.
Oh do fuck off you lovely man/woman! What shoes do you like? It's just for fun.

Alfred Sargent and John Lobb seem to have the most eye-watering prices. Stunning.
There's also John Lobb 'ready to wear' (handmade here in Northampton), owned by Hermes but licensed to use the John Lobb name. You can buy slight seconds from the factory shop here for about £300 as opposed to £600+ in Jermyn St.

I was more referring to the brogues that at least two shoemakers are selling for £3,000.oo!!
I kid you not. -

Those a brogues for wankers.
Shoes priced at £3k can't be much different to those worth a couple of hundred. It's simply leftover from the class system (now replaced by the Premier League).
-
• #362
Wearing 3k shoes means it's unlikely that you will encounter someone else wearing the same shoes.
I don't get people hating on over priced clothing, not everything boils down to the workmanship put in to the garment/pair of shoes, or the materials used in their construction.

I'm fully aware why people pay £3k for shoes. I'm not 12.
That's why it's wank. Especially when items of clothing aren't really bespoke and one off, but simply expensive and boring.Craftsmanship? If you want to pay thousands and can afford it, then do it.
I'm sure the craftsman can survive on £40k a year.At the end of the day, you want the whole world to know, that either you're from a privileged background, a footballer, a rich showbiz dandy, banker or simply a thieving cunt.

What about bespoke bikes, suits etc?
Let people spend their money as they please as long as they are not paying to abuse another person.
There is a certain pleasure in owning nice items. To be fair at the very high of such consumerism the majority of people will be oblivious. Show a non cyclist a 3K racer or a Halfords full sus and they would probably assume the full sus bike costs more. Some of the attraction is just for the user or wearer to know and occasionally another person may acknowledge.

It's their money, James. Do as you pleased.
Most of the time you go bespoke to attract attention.
