The inner sole has worn out and curled up in one of my boots. So I'm after a new cheap leather innersoles.
Anyone know if they're all much of a muchness?
I was looking at these odour resistant ones : http://www.ggfootcare.co.uk/store/content_prod/14/2
or
these plain leather ones: http://www.ggfootcare.co.uk/store/content_prod/14/2078
Cheers.
Just go to a place that sells hides and buy a big enough piece to cut two inners out of. With your preferred thickness, get a perfect fit by tracing around each foot and cut out with a sharp knife. Lasts way longer than those micro thin things that shoe stores sell.

Or ask Murtle to do you some.

Cheers.
I'd rather have something OTP as I've been meaning to do this for over 6m.... and I think Murtle would cost more than I want.
Although where is good to get leather? Brick / Petticoat lane?

to be honest, your foot swells and moves about in the shoe, so the insole, has to fit the internal dimensions of the shoe. as opposed to the actual foot size / shape.

Purchased insoles are no closer to the shape of an individual shoe than hand cut.

width etc....

mm?
Take your old insole that came with your shoe.
Trace around that onto new leather.
Cut out.
Would this not be closer to original insole shape than aftermarket soles? -

These MArk Nairy ones are on sale:
They're shit, feel shit and the finished product is miles away from what the price tag asks, even on sale.
I say noes! -

Would they not be Sanders? Got a pair from them, marked mcnairy, and they're allright. Got them at half price though, dunno if I'd be too impressed with the sole for full price, it's wearing down quickly.
On that note, can I resole brick soled shoes? I assume so but haven't read up

They're suede anyway >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Any other recommendations for proper old school cobblers? IE. do a good job for not stupid money.
The old Cypriot guy (Dennis the barber's uncle) from New Cross is now somewhere in Herne Hill I'm told...I have a pair of Sanders (and Sanders) officers' shoes just like these http://www.classicshoesformen.com/sites/default/files/images/Vintage%20Sanders%20Uniform%20Oxford%20Tuczek%20Cleverley%208%20(1).JPG except broken in and nicer. I need to get the heels rebuilt as they squeak like a mofo.
I can recommend merrifields near east dulwich station.

Real nice aussie guy that knows his stuff. Not sure if he's too expensive. Charged me £70 for a complete resole of a pair or boots, very nice work but too expensive? not sure.

harold, thanks for that^
East Dulwich would be perfect..

Anyone ever had a pair of boots from here?
-
• #2866
That Ozzie guy may be very good, but he's also given to hearing what he wants to hear- make sure that he has understood what you want him to do, before you drop the shoes off.

What happened to your shoes?
-
• #2868
He took a regular pair of Sidi's in and got a pair of Disco Slippers back.
I think he then punted them on to Soul.

I went in here today.
I think his work looks great and I don't think £70 for a full re-sole and new heel is expensive, but I don't know either.
That's what he wanted to do to cure the creaking in my Sanders and Sanders shoes.
He's definitely tending towards the precious artisan end of things though, I believe he may even use the word bespoke.
When the Crockett and Jones wear through I'd take them there but the eBay ex Army officers shoes.....
Also I'm still sure the noise is coming from the heels which probably only need re-nailing, he did seem to make up his mind rather quickly as to what needed doing. I'm sure taking off the entire sole and remaking it would cure the problem but it seems a bit drastic.
So I dropped the shoes off at the (Cypriot geezer) Dulwich Cobbler which is next to Herne Hill Station, they moved there from next to New X station where they had been since I was a kid my mum used to take her shoes in there, so I reckon they know what they're about.
I'll let y'all know if they cure the creaking by re-nailing the heels for £12 (new rubber on heel inc)
They cut keys too.

Anyone had any experience with Ted Baker shoes? Looking for some winter boots and these look pretty good for under 70 squids
-
• #2871
Wouldn't you want a bit of grip on your winter boots? Those soles look flat.
The tongue looks fairly vaginal as well. -

Vulval.

Ha. They're the same family (2nd generation- cousins now) as run the barbers. I still get my hair cut there occasionally.
The Cypriots in SE London all seemed to cut hair, repair shoes or sell Ice cream. -

Were you a New X boy too?
For the increasing number of you living in E10, 17 etc then try the E17 Cobbler on Hoe Street- Bakers Arms end
Ask for George but don't mention Timpsons!
