I have these. I'm between a UK 9.5 and 10. Mine are 9.5 and fit bang on.
Shouldn't be too much of a task to find a pair to try on?
That's the kind of size range that I fall into.
Just emailed brogueshoes so depending on what they say it looks like I'm going to go for a size 9.5.
Brougshoes have a good returns policy so it shouldn't be a problem if they are the wrong size. Thanks for all the help.

Nice, are they Derbies or Oxfords, can't quite tell?
Look a bit like D&G to me - what brand?

Part of the reason I went for the plain toe cordovans (not that anyone asked) is that the Alden longwings look so fucking good in more rugged-looking, waxy leather. Like these, on a crepe sole:

Crockett & Jones - I have a pair in brown and a pair in black, the brown ones I have worn pretty much constantly and so far have lasted me eight years, they need to go to the cobblers once a year to be resoled and repaired but thats it

^ awesome. Need to drop my boots off for some new soles as well. What cobbler are you using?

i can recommend Cobblers Nest in SE1. The old boy who runs it is patently insane but he does an awesome job on the shoes.

Any other recommendations for proper old school cobblers? IE. do a good job for not stupid money.
The old Cypriot guy (Dennis the barber's uncle) from New Cross is now somewhere in Herne Hill I'm told...I have a pair of Sanders (and Sanders) officers' shoes just like these http://www.classicshoesformen.com/sites/default/files/images/Vintage%20Sanders%20Uniform%20Oxford%20Tuczek%20Cleverley%208%20(1).JPG except broken in and nicer. I need to get the heels rebuilt as they squeak like a mofo.

If they're squeaking it might mean that the shank inside the shoe has detached. This is a job for a proper cobbler, not some uninterested 17yr old oik at Timpsons.

I definitely want the former not the latter.
I just want to avoid any one who believes themselves to be an 'artisan' and prices accordingly.
I'm pretty sure the squeaking is coming from the heel as I can see that some of the layers of leather are separated, and the noise seems to be coming from there.
Unfortunately it's so loud they are unwearable, which is a shame as I really like them, they have a sort of Tintin look about them. -

My poor old George Cox saddle shoes are going in the bin, I've been sentimentally hanging onto them for too long... Cost me £50 ten years ago, where can I get another pair? Not some uber-expensive Japanese streetwear collabo please?

Wasn't Gerald looking for saddle shoes earlier this year? He may be able to point you in the right direction.

The inner sole has worn out and curled up in one of my boots. So I'm after a new cheap leather innersoles.
Anyone know if they're all much of a muchness?
I was looking at these odour resistant ones : http://www.ggfootcare.co.uk/store/content_prod/14/2
or
these plain leather ones: http://www.ggfootcare.co.uk/store/content_prod/14/2078
Cheers.
