  • Ask Murtle.

  • Murtle is a tool?

  • what is it you're doing? I don't get it

  • Brazilian (on) shoes.

  • I've just curved the leather down at the back.

    Jobs a goodun
Daubed in some saddle soap and with new leather laces.

  • just seen this, if you need to do it again, go to a cobblers :)

  • :|

  • the paraboot marche is a classic shoe that i didnt respect or understand until i learnt what went into their construction. when the right size is photographed i think they look rather charming.

as yet i dont understand or appreciate shoes that have darkened toes and heels....... maybe in time.

  • Some of mine look that way, didn't have to pay extra.

    qft

  • The darkened heels and toes look like they came from shop soiled shoes where people have picked them up and inspected them and in time the leather has darkened where they've been handled.

  • ALden Roy Boot

  • Orvis x Alden Aviators

  • ALden Roy Boot

fuck me they're nice. I need new boots. Most certainly.

  • Look for the Alden x JCrew ones, I'm pretty sure they had the Roy model on last years collection.

  • Loake Chester's, will I need to get the size down?

Google tells me about people sizing down with other models of Loake but I can't find any info on the Chester.

  • made on last 024 in f width fitting - depends on the shape of your feet: try on first

  • made on last 024 in f width fitting

    What does this mean?
Hoping I'll get it right first time and if not then return them. Not going to get a chance to try any on for a while.

  • do you know how wide your feet are, as if you're a g these would be tight in your normal size and you'd have to go up.

as to the last 024 bit, that's for a particular shape of (wooden traditionally) mold, or last

  • Thanks rive gauche. I don't think my feet are particularly wide. I'll measure to check.
Do you know if Loake Chesters come up longer than normal? I know that I needed to size down with my Clarks desert boots.

  • i couldn't comment for you, but a loake in size 9, last 3625 in g width fits me nicely, with 1/2" or so of toe room.

i've got quite a broad instep though so have to make sure there's plenty of give in the lacing area, and it's always the heels that rub badly for me, no matter what the shoe!

  • Would you normally say you wore a size 10?
Heels are first to go with me too.
I'll scour the internet a bit more and maybe email Loake.

  • I have a pair of Loake 290 Chelsea boots which are Last 010 / F Fitting in 9.5 and normally take a 10 (45 in Sidis..)
They are a touch too narrow for my right little toe so I have barely ever worn them :(

Given my experience with that last I would say that their sizing seems to be fairly true to size - I definetly regret going down half a size. I went down a size as I have thin ankles/heels but normal ish width forefoot.

  • Would you normally say you wore a size 10?

sorry, should have stated above, size 9
