as it comes from the horses rump! -

Cheaney recently started doing online summer/winter sale, and prices seem pretty good. I like the product a lot.

I have some. Love 'em.

how come there are so few shoes made with soft leather and thin soles? Most seem to be made like
furniture. -
• #2512
Because of the weather conditions we have to put up with.

Bought the Grenson Otis on sale a couple of weeks ago, worn them a few times but or the price I'm quite impressed with them.
Also, there's a few pairs of the Alber left, now at £80 from £275.

Housemate took these to have a tread put on.
And cobblers initially refused and ranted at him about how they weren't even finished. -

£144 for a pair of Red Wings
http://www.stylebop.com/uk/product_details.php?id=121001&special=saleGood deal right? Looking for something for Scandinavia in winter.

Might be slippery on ice though?
-
• #2518
hmm... yeah... but can't imagine there would be any rubber soles that wouldn't be slippery?
-
• #2519
true, just more or less. A commando sole would be better, but that'll do I think, at least til they're worn out / in
-

Are you one of the sizes they have in stock?
I'd go for the Vibram soles too though , the crepe ones wear really fast. I had a pair of black moc toe Redwings with a Vibram sole that I wore nearly everyday for about 5 years.
I really don't think they're made like that anymore though :( -
• #2521
Every day for five years? They must've given off an interesting aroma...
-
• #2522
I did say almost...
They were work boots y'know, for working in.
(What they're actually made for shhhhh!) -
• #2523
Seems like none of the fashionista range ones are made with vibram soles.
-
• #2524
There are some on the site you linked too with a lugged black sole
http://www.stylebop.com/uk/product_details.php?id=121011 -probably not genuine Vibram though.
Ironically it seems the real Redwing work boots available in the US are all moulded soles and padded cuffs while the European range looks like the classic designs -though the pairs I've seen haven't looked anywhere near the legendary quality.
A bit like Carhartt who used to sell indestructible union made cotton duck work wear and now ...I blame the hipsters...

Redwing makes a huge range of shoes / boots, as do Wolverine, Danner etc. What we get over here isn't so much the work wear, though you can get it if you shop around, but the lifestyle stuff.
Same with Carhartt, you can still buy their workwear, it's dead cheap in the states, bit more over here, but nowhere near the 'lifestyle' lines
There isn't one Coppi. They aren't mine :-(
