Australia, I think you're ace but your shoes are a pile of Croc.
Touché....
When I was small, my parents were working hard to make ends meet. We weren't really poor or threadbare, but they were both working their arses off to keep food on the table, the business afloat, me and my little sister in schoolbooks and my dad in Benson & Hedges. My recollection is a bit hazy but having spoken to them years on, they tried to protect us from it all.
Anyway, I needed new shoes and there wasn't much money to go around. I wanted Aerosport 2000s, but my schoolshoes were falling to pieces and there was really only enough money to get one pair. I remember mum telling me that i had some great aunt out in Wangaratta who was in Ill health and Aerosports weren't going to cut it at the funeral. So I ended up with school/funeral brogues... Fucking EXACTLY like that shit you posted in #2451..
Her health improved and she lived about 7 or 8 years after that... which is wonderful... But I was stuck with those fuckers for years.
So to me, they are Catholic Primary School/dead great aunt from the country shoes

I couldn't decide whether to go with 'tl;dr' or 'Cool story bro'.

If CSB was in the mix, tl;dr would have been dishonest.
Her name was Mabel, thank for asking

Saw a pair of these walk past today, didn't really work in real life, too chunky sole. Could possibly work with heavy denim but not shorts
-
• #2483
You'd have to be a right cunt to wear those with shorts.

Am with Balki on this.
Those Alden shoes - I mean I see they're well made, classic and get covered in rep etc on the expensive authentic workwear fan sites - but frankly, they're a pair of clumpy brogues - likewise their Chukkas - authentic American etc, but really.....school shoes. Or the traveling salesman circa Arthur Miller era
Do they come with a little badge like the old Clarks Commando's?
I don't get it - for the price, no way. Cordovan etc etc.....much like the fetish for the cowhide wallets via ironheart and flathead .......... way over priced no?

Nice. Just bought a pair of Loake Derbys for work, and wondered how their repair service measured up. The incessant rain in glasgow is not good for leather soles, or leather shoes generally, so I'll need a set rotation to keep them in any nick at all.
How much was it?

Cost me sixty squid. I just wanted to see what they'd do. They look better than ever; crisp but with patina. Best of both worlds.
