  • are you doing a paddy's day guinness ride?

Sure am. If you search Guinness # 4, details will appear in all their glory.

  • I'm afraid I'll be over the Irish sea for the weekend but otherwise would have loved to join you chaps.

  • When Charles got married, London Transport offered, for the first time ever, a go anywhere on the tube ticket for £2. I bought one and went to Ongar, Ealing and many other places that one would never think of going to nor want to. I didn't celebrate the wedding but avoided it.

The idea of the ride is to get away from all the nonsense of the wedding and the public hysteria surrounding it and go off on bikes. What better day to celebrate some of the events in our nations history that have diminished the power of the monarchy?

Reminds me of an old joke--'I was in Paris that day for a Murray Lachlan Young gig which was taking place in Edinburgh.'

  • We should have the 1st LFGSS Track Day...

  • Not sure if I can make it, but I'd be in favour of visiting sites out west--Putney, St George's Hill, Runnymede. There may be others. Wat Tyler was killed at Smithfield, so that might be a good place to start the ride.

  • @oliver schick, agreed, by how about finishing at smithfield?

also the felt 'paddy hats' might stick in the throat after england's pathetic bowling yesterday.

  • how many people are planning on doing this?

was thinking of possibly setting up the smoker for the day, we could then pile back to prancing towers for a barbecue

  • Well I'm interested in doing this, but I don't fancy a ride that ends in surrey or wherever. much better for us northies to end in town.

  • This is a stupidly good idea and I'd be up for it, tho frowning strongly on anything referencing Cromwell - killing kings good, genocide bad.

How about Harbour Gym in Chelsea, to commemorate she who damaged the Royals' rep more than anyone else in our lifetime?

  • well?

Is cliveo (who started this thread) going to confirm a ride/time etc

  • Ditto
    Yes
    Clive
    Please!!!!

  • One assumes we will start at Charing Cross since it is the location where some of the regicides were hanged, drawn and quartered.

  • We could always use Rob's Taking Liberties route from the (cough cough) brilliant BL exhibition: http://realcycling.blogspot.com/2009/01/taking-liberties-exhibition-cycle-tour.html

  • Just where's Clive? Is he too busy helping to reinsure the Royal Wedding?

  • OK so is it time the so called leader of this thread is overthrown? Who's with me?

  • Well that sentiment's an improvement on 'you gotta fast car...'

List time. That's how you start a revolution.
