  • I suppose by this point youre all imagining how the ROE team would even want such a bitter prick on their team. Am i right? Fuck you

Paul, are you stoned? Seriously, get a fucking grip and stop acting like a bell end. Go sign up for 4chan, and you can troll with Scott over there.

  • Jesus Paul.... Calm the fuck down, it's just polo...

Seriously just go for a walk or something before you decide to post something... when you get back and still think it's a good idea to tell people you play polo with to go fuck themselves, then fine go ahead....

  • I like it when MCR posts in the regular polo thread. You guys should do it more. Leave the MCR sub forum to fixie skidders.

  • @ chucklebruv and timimallet... Get your facts right before slagging me off.

This draft was lacking numbers and i picked the team based on my experience of the players. No need to be so aggressive towards me, Paul and Yoav in particular. Just fucking grow up and take into account all the external factors surrounding this before saying stuff like "Fuck the captain for his bullshit judgment"
first of all chan, in which of my posts was i being agressive towards you? i was simply defending paul who, in my eyes, was rightly pissed off for being dismissed completely from the selection process in favour of 2 people who, despite playing in england previously, don't anymore.
i've read through all the comments on the thread and cannot see any point where you were formally voted as a captain. you posted asking if anyone had any objections, and fair enough no-one came forward, but that's not really the same as a vote, is it?
it just seemed like paul was being ignored, especially when it came to picking the final team and you said Rich could be a backup but no mention was made of paul.
ok, paul could've handled it a bit better but i can completely understand why he was so pissed off.

oh, and nesbit, wtf is that comment supposed to mean? that you don't think anyone will wanna play polo with me and paul because of this thread? seriously, grow the fuck up you moron.

  • Silence is tacit approval.

  • is it really though? if so, why don't we just dismiss all polls threads in favour of this method? imo, if someone as established as Chan in the Polo/Forum community asks a question like that, it can be very hard for others to vote against him for fear of being slammed down. i'm not that arsed but some might be. plus, asking for any objections then leaving it 1 day isn't really sufficient considering some people don't see the forum every day.

@chan, i know it was a difficult job choosing a team, and you may well have been the best person for the job, i just think the whole thing could have been handled a lot better. just my opinion.

  • I can understand people have grievances, but there's a way to voice them.

If people are concerned and want to influence the way the process works, it's best to pipe up *before *decisions are made.

  • It's all pretty easy to pipe up/criticise after decisions have been made. I'm not getting dragged in to this as I was only involved in the London draft but you should keep in mind that there were pretty tight deadlines (which LDN and ROE both went over) and at the end of the day it's just another tourney in a calendar which is jam packed with dozens of other sweet polo events. This doesn't count for euros, it doesn't count for worlds, all it's meant to be is fun which a few people here seem to be forgetting.

In BM and events with drafts someone is always going to miss out (me being one of them), pick up your mallets and wait for the next one.

The process needed to be pushed forward. Time was/is important. The tournament is in a month, and tickets will only get more expensive. I forced a deadline in the London draft for this reason. Often, if someone doesn't do it, no one will.

Not speaking because Chan is too estabslihed in the scene is a weak excuse, but does drive home the point that silence is tacit acceptance. If it wasn't, the person who is reluctantly being silent would not feel frustrated by the situation.

We had a secret vote for the London coach. Maybe someone should have suggested the same for RoE.

I made no mention of Paul because he didn't figure in my selection. He's the weakest player on the draft. I know that for a fact, i'm sorry if he was pissed off, but you have to expect that if you're going up on a draft with people that are much better polo players than you.

So he's actually not "rightly pissed off" because the draft was open to London players, and people who have a right to play for ROE. You're right at no point was i formally voted as captain, but no one else put there name down, and no one had any objections when i said i would. It seems you do though, perhaps you should of voiced your concerns earlier?

You're basically sticking up for Paul because you think i've hurt his feelings, and ignored him? I just picked the team, i didn't mention him as a back up because both Rich and Dan Lj are better players than Paul. I'm sorry but he'll just have to be a big boy and accept it. And if you still do have a problem with my selection perhaps you can just say it to my face rather than shit stirring on here. We still play polo on a Thursday, so any time you actually feel like coming down i'll be there.

  • Oh, sorry i forgot. You pulled out of playing in December didn't you? Too cold....

Maybe see you in the new year.

  • hahaha, you tell me to grow up and then make snidey little comments like that!? who are you to say i'm shit stirring anyway? just coz i have an opinion which was different to yours? i would be more than happy to discuss it with you face to face, but thought it would also be acceptable to discuss it in a thread which was specifically about the subject. i'm bored of this now anyway tbh, you've picked the team and i hope you all do well.

  • You are shit stirring though Yoav, your posts in this thread haven't done anything but poke the fire. So i made a snidey comment, arsed? No. I'm fed up of all this myself you know. And i didn't expect Manchester people to give me a hard time about it, even after I'd explained why i picked the team i did.

  • yoav, why do you always have to fight some unnamed forumgers case? "im not arsed, but someone might be". you're not a caped crusader out to stand up for people, who can't for themselves, you know. you never put your name down in the first place, for captain or player so to come back now and start piping up is a little late. put something in first, then maybe people would listen to your opinion :)
how else do you suggest a captain should have been picked then, if not the way it happened? and once its done, team selection is down to the captain. thats always going to end up in some people not being picked with some sort of aggro following afterwards. paul should have handled that much better and by following along his negative path you didn't do much better. i do admit, my comment was childish and unfounded and posted in a spur of the moment. perhaps i should have followed adam's sound advice of going for a walk. (surely he meant ride)

  • Can someone sum up what's been going on, on my phone so can't read it all.

Is everyone just hugging it out?

I like this Tom. I would like it if you would write the preface / table of contents for my biography in just such a manner.
