  • nice one Felix

  • Nhatt; she doesn't look very excited with her progress.

  • Love this bike - right for the minidrome

  • it was crazy fun! ratios at the ready for the next installment.

  • wicked event, really enjoyed the evening. Thanks to everyone who put it on and rode.

I would ignore most of the negativity towards it, red bull has tried something fresh and innovative.
If the moaners got their way they might as well have just built a regular velodrome, which this event intentionally wasn't! keep it up!

If they take the reasonable criticisms on board, they could build a fast and safe minidrome.

You know nothing about the street culture sponsored by corporations :-)
It's not about safe. It's about fun and being rad.

  • If they take the reasonable criticisms on board.

Are you drunk? in this day and age there's no such thing as "reasonable criticisms". You're just being, like, all negative man. Stop the haterzz.

  • He speaks his mind and stands up for himself. Respec, bruv.

  • What's the issue? someone crashed where there was no crash pads in a place where there could have been crash pads?

  • It wouldn't make very interesting viewing / riding if it was 100% risk free though would it

I think it would be impossible to make this concept 100% risk free! even riding at home on a turbo trainer isn't 100% risk free. Bikes are dangerous.

Next time - red hot coals!

  • No, the riskyness was good. It was surprisingly hard to ride. The whole time everyone was just one little mistake away from going off the edge. There could have been mats around the whole thing though, if even to cushion the bikes.

  • Next time - red hot coals!

    Troughs of pig shit.

  • Did anybody who practiced before at HH have chance to actually use their skills? Or was it a whole new experience?

  • The red line is the shortest line around and if you think about it the flattest route

No, no.. it's not...the black line is the shortest route. Definitely. It may not be the best line to ride on the minidrome, but it's still the shortest. Imagine the track as an inverted cone and then open it out and lay it flat.

All three lines - red, blue, black - the whole track - are the same steepness too: the track was laid with flat pieces of plywood. If you drew a horizontal line out from any cutout section of the track you could see this. Any one section of the track will be the same degree of steepness from the top to the bottom. It's not a bowl or curve.

But besides that, there's no need to take any criticism here too hard - I think the concensus is that it was a fun & novel event...

    a seasoned track rider.

That's very kind of you, but quite embarrassing - nothing could be further from the truth!

IF IF IF if redbull would listen every shit comment u guys make there will be no mini track so shut .........

  • ^ exactly

Proper velodromes are a long way from 100% risk free.

To me, it looks almost criminally reckless to have no fence and no run off/crash pad. Somebody was bound to go over the top, especially as the 'neutral speed' (the speed at which you follow the red line and are at 90° to the track surface) is so low with that combination of corner radius and banking angle. I'm actually astonished that the combined liability lawyerage of Red Bull and GLL allowed the event to proceed with such scant regard to risk assessment. I'm not sure that any waiver of liability either a rider or spectator had signed would stand up in court in the face of such recklessness.

If somebody gets seriously hurt and sues, there will be no more minidrome. It is incumbent on them to take reasonable precautions, and 'reasonable' has a very clear meaning in law.
