  • Err..d'you reckon?? What's that black line there for then?! :)

The red line is the shortest line around and if you think about it the flattest route.

The black line is the guide line, you can stay on this line but you cannot go faster than say about 20mph simply because you cannot lean in as much to stop yourself flying off towards the blue line/edge.

It is hard to stay on the red line, but after you get your head around it. It becomes a lot easier. It just takes others more to get there head around!

That was what the whole event boiled down to.

Chris has a background in motor bike trials riding, which gives him a great advantage when it comes to adapting to the scenario, (whatever that may be) quicker than most.

I had been around that track so many times, he gets on it 1st time and gets just as fast a lap as what my average would be. If he had more practice I don't think anyone could beat him on that track, up a hill or doing trials on a fixed gear bike.

Haha, giving track advice to a seasoned track rider. The funny thing is that Stelle would smoke nealy everyone in that room on a full sized track (probably including Chris, although I am not doughting his ability).

Regarding the hill climbing, you have obiosly not seen Bringmemyfix go up a hill. One of the things I have noticed with FGL and fixed mag is that it seems to miss a lot of really talented riders mainly because they are not part of the trick seen. Its fine as that is what the two are geared towards.

  • Estelle was questioning the black line on a full size velodrome, as that was the comment that she had quoted.

Someone mentioned, that the red line on a velodrome was the quickest, and anyone who has riden on a velodrome would know this...

Estelle is right, on any normal velodrome, the black is the quickest, however, i agree with you andypancake, on this track however, the redline is by far the quickest. is it possible to ride arround on the black without clipping your pedal on the floor???

  • So I reckon that drop bars are faster, but it was a track for trick riders, so thats why the riser bars were faster, cos the sorta people that do tricks ride those sorta bikes. Who was that dude who wasnt racing but kept on checking the track? He was super fast and on drops. Keeping centre of gravity low into the corners, trusting the lean and not steering, makes sense to me.
I also reckon keeping low was the fastest way to go and the reason the fast dudes were sometimes high was simply that they couldnt fight the upwards forces created by their own speeds. I kept my eye on the red line and just hoped my bike would follow. In the end, it didn't! ;-)

  • PS. Does everyone agree that random head to head draw was the wrong way to go about it?

  • the dude who was having a go but not racing was AndyPancake on here.

    Any need for that?

  • Dean is a cunt, I think that's pretty obvious by now.

  • sweet ool u got the same brain as the rat why dont you go fuck yourself else where u scumbag

    Its actually a hamster genius

  • Dean is a cunt, I think that's pretty obvious by now.

It's like the Great Wall of China- That Dean is a cunt is so obvious that you can spot it from orbit.

  • A hamster genius?

  • I'm sure I've read on here that by timing your pedalling and when you turn the front wheel you don't have to worry about toe overlap.

The edsquablopedia says so, must be true.

  • .

you need to chill out abit, everyone wishes they were cool, but you just have to deal with it by bottling up your emotions and crying yourself to sleep instead of venting on the interweb

  • genius hamster's are the coolest

  • No need to add an apostrophe, just because you missed a comma.

  • It's like the Great Wall of China- That Dean is a cunt is so obvious that you can spot it from orbit.

the wall is not visible from outer space. the build up of desert sand on one side of the wall means it's whereabouts are visible but not the wall itself.

  • dean is no cnut, you guys just fall for the bait once too often.

  • chill outtt. we don't want no trouble round 'ear!!!

  • everyones talking about how this person would do that, and how this person isn't this.
the fact is, to ride this track you had to be able to adapt very quickly if you hadn't ridden it before.
it wasn't designed for trick riders but it just so happens that trick riders often encounter banks etc. that are quite similar to the minidrome.
i think everyone knows who is who, what they are like, and what they can/can't do.

Or rather have lower gearing, shorter stems and risers.

    and that.

    looked so fun.
