i think that is a wonderful gesture with the tee-shirt. i was considering buying a leopard trek jersey and embroider a 108 on the offside rear pocket.. not that my sewing skills are that good mind..

Tom-Jelte Slagter suffered a broken right eye socket (orbit) and a concussionwhen he crashed heavily in Wednesday's fifth stage of the Giro d'Italia. The Rabobank rider skidded on a gravel section with about 15 kilometres to go.

The 21-year-old is being treated for the wounds to his face in the hospital. CAT scans have shown no brain damage, and he was expected to remain in hospital at least overnight, the team announced.

I think '*forget *'is the wrong word, also it seems silly to not think it'll cast a shadow over the whole race, which seems most appropriate.

Did not say there was anything wrong with helping his family, and donations can be quietly made through Leopard Trek facebook page.
I think that walking around wearing something that reminds people of rare tragic accident is not the right thing to do.
