The artist formerly known as Chris Carsh in from the USA.
where we had streets in the 1700's and we are talking about London which has had streets much longer and we are kind of talking about capitalism as I was being snarky and pointing out that the problem of "anti-social behivor" predates the penning of The Wealth Of Nations.
tl;dr: bitches can call me zodiac while yo momas swing back n' forth from my nut sack.

It's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate......it takes guts to be gentle and kind...
It doesn't cost anything to smile as you are stabbing someone.

Yeah beacuse our streets are so much less safe then they where before 1776....
How is this a response to what I said?
Did you mean to quote someone else, because my comment wasn't based on a comparison with some ideal of history.
To suggest that the reasons for street crime are exactly the same as 200 years ago is about as stupid as any one person could be. Unless your name is Dick Turpin

Chris Crash is full of turpitude. :)

Cirsh is best taken with a pinch of salt, and large dose of your ignore list.

Ha! Chukker has no patrol group. He's all talk, no hammer.
I have started avoiding DBT when coming home from polo. Means I have to go down southgate and downham to get whitmore road and then pitfield. Pain in the ass. Fucking punks.
(I give you permission to use this very exciting story in you article).
totally agree as I have to the same but going the opposite way. i now have to take a shitty junction that I wold rather avoid

Just so you guys know a friend of mine was pulled off his bike on Northchurch rd at 9.30 in the evening 2 weeks ago by some fuckers trying to mug him.
He managed to run away without anything getting stolen or hurt thankfully, and they didn't take his bike (it is a shitty worthless wreck of a bike though..) -
• #269
That's crap. So they pulled him off but took nothing? And left the bike in the street after he'd scarpered?
-
• #270
Yup - he ran, they shouted "hey we only wanted your phone"... nice.
Really pisses me off that it comes down to something so trivial as a phone they couldn't even see.
But it has made me change my route from Culford Mews after dark. -

This is the first time I heard of this. I live on the Lockner estate, between De Beauvoir square and Kingsland Road and i get involved with the estate's tenants & residents association a lot. We have PCSOs asking us what they should be doing and sometimes bits of money to spend on things in the immediate area. Let me know if you have suggestions for what we could/should be doing...
-
• #272
Oliver Schick should be able to help, or at least point you in the right direction, hodger.

Does your estate have a neighbourhood watch scheme, can cyclists from outside the estate join!?
-
• #274
Presumely with mallets instead of batons in hand? ;)

hodger, I have no idea what the Safer Neighbourhood Team's priorities should be in your area, but if there is a feeling that this is a priority, you could obviously put that forward.
I don't think anyone knows where the people, if indeed they are the same people every time, who perpetrate these attacks come from, but the SNT could obviously tackle it best if they actually lived in De Beauvoir ward. If not, they'd have to collaborate with other police and the detective work would probably be more difficult. I'd say just finding out whether it's locals or someone else would be the first thing to do.
At the moment, it's very unlikely that any mugging activity will be going on and I personally expect it to have disappeared by the time it gets warmer again, but just in case it doesn't:
The muggers there rely on a constant stream of cyclists to pass so that they can pick a victim who they think won't be able to defend themselves that well, and indeed one who isn't followed immediately by another cyclist, or at least that's what I've heard from a couple of people who have reported such attacks.
A police sting would probably work well but is difficult to set up in this area. The attacks also occur too sporadically to be able to anticipate them well. Some patrols outside of normal working hours, during the hours of the evening when the attacks tend to occur, would also be good. But, as I say, I doubt that anything much will happen during the Big Freeze and the police will be better off tackling cannibalism in Stoke Newington.
Anyway, it's very useful for police to hear from people with local knowledge and work together with them.
I got a text from a mate last week that said:
"Hi, sorry to disturb u but a friend of mine just escaped being dragged off her bike tonight by a masked thug in the De Beauvoir area of Hackney between Essex Rd and Kingsland Rd. I've since learned another male friend was attacked in the same way and area and that a similar but worse story ws recently in the Guardian referring to a masked gang attacking 2 people. Please tell all local cyclists u know to be very careful in this area esp. at night. Thank u and keep cycling but not too slowly!"
So sounds like that it's an ongoing concern...
