so why was it posted here? should be in the how not to lock thread
srsly? how is this an example of how not to lock a bike?

All that ironware is split between two people though. Far as I can tell the only fail was one of the wheels. And any thief taking a second glance at what - let's be honest - looks like the security section in Evans is going to move very swiftly on to something else.
Everyone's just nit picking. Imagine that... here of all places!

Like wrongcog said, it was split between two people, Ada actually carried the chain and one of the fahgs and minnie evo... She seemed absolutely fine.
I had the krypotlok 2 and fahg and my bag was fine also.

Good so everyone's fine. It does make me realise how depressing it is that we have to lug two or three locks around with us. I'm always so jealous of folks who ride about in safer cities with a mini D tucked in their pants.

.No she didn't
I thought that my neck will fall off from doing 40 miles with all that crap on my back.
I took it with me only because i didn't know if there are any proper racks there and if i'm gonna be locking my bike with someone else's.Krypto chain is not for carrying arround.
Sticking to my d-locks next time. -

Why did you not tell me?! I would've carried it ya fool.

and what wrongcog said.

Totally agree.

Just ride a less desirable bike or leave your locks at your destination.

DFP
Reading between the lines they were going there once.
It would be fucking expensive to leave locks at every destination you go to, on the off chance of a return visit.

Probs less than a new bike, if it were only a few frequently visited places.
Although the inevitable enormous bundle of keys would still weigh you down.

Unless you got Kryptonite locks made to match your existing keys

The fact of that matter is, we could've done a lot worse and as Ada stated, we were running very late.
Did the saddle get stolen?
-
• #316
you're in the fucking bag.

Bike on the other side of the railings.
Mini D through front wheel, frame and railings.
Fagh through rear wheel, frame and thickest part of the railings.
Plastic bag over the seat as a small deterrent.:)

Ed, what the fuck are you talking about?
and no Ada took her saddle with her.
Nice job Dom.
-
• #319
Dom shows how to do the job properly with 2 locks.
Where as the 5 locks were not used to their fullest potential and meant a lot of extra weight was lugged around without real need.
It would have been easier to take the seat and post, not just the saddle. If you had the time to remove the saddle from its clamp you should have had time to use the locks a bit better.

Strange - seems as though you are more worked about the way our bikes were locked than we were, and they don't even belong to you!
-
• #321
You thought it was good enough to be posted on a thread dedicated to good locking technique, when it was not the best possible and rather inefficient. Dom has demonstrated how to do it better with fewer locks.
For anyone who is coming here to pick up tips it is useful to highlight how it can be done well.

Possible for that bianchi to be hit by a vehicle, or maybe even a cyclist?
-
• #323
^ I definitely considered this before locking but decided it was okay, the bars or pedals didn't actually come close to the curb. You'd have to be driving or cycling on the paved area to hit the bike.

• #324
come back to a very well locked up twisted heap of chrome

If a car hit that rail, the bike would likely get fucked no matter which side it were on.
The fact of that matter is, we could've done a lot worse and as Ada stated, we were running very late.
