Grenada population is 89,000.
It's going to have a pretty low crime rate, I reckon.

The crime rate in Grenada is high compared to industrialized countries.

some cultures practice male circumcision as well, and whilst I am confident the level of harm is less than the female equivalent I struggle to see how that is any sort of justification.
[apologies for thread derail, anyone who wishes to continue this may wish to start a new thread!]
Male circumcision is nothing like the female sort.
The male sort has medical/health/aesthetic benefits and does not harm the function of the organ. In fact the NHS offer it as a service free of charge.
The female sort is rather fucked up. The "components" dealt with are far more sensitive and could do with some proper surgical skill. But instead you have some fucktard hacking away aiming to remove the entire clitoris. If the goal is achieved without further injury, the girl is left without a pleasure giving bodypart. But it is undoubtedly extremely painful a procedure and full of risks.

Race and culture has nothing to do with it, their are people who are cunts, abuse children and should never be allowed to be parents in every culture, as much as there are little toe rags who tell grandmas to fuck off on buses in any country you care to look.
Its completely the wrong direction to take this topic, because it inevitably makes it about race - For example i could say most of the kids i have seen on London buses being cunts are clearly of West Indian descent - now i would surmise thats because they come from the poorest backgrounds, not their racial heritage, however its a statement loaded with racial overtones, and will lead the conversation down a dark alley.
If you hit a child, the message is that its ok to resort to violence in order to resolve a situation.
I was smacked a bit as a kid, but had a great childhood, and had the full gambit of corpral punishment thrown at me in Boarding school.
However i do remember using the fact that my dad smacked me, as reason enough to smack a classmate who was annoying me, when i was about 8 - despite being told by my parents that violence was never right, the smacks i had had lodged at the back of my mind an acceptability to view physical violence as an acceptable repost, when it clearly wasnt.

To steal a phrase i often here about some of the "customers" in my work place.
"Kids these days are being dragged up not brought up" some of the people i see with children these days would not be able to survive themselves without the welfare state let alone raise offspring.
But who am i to judge.

When I was in a deaf boarding school (1997-2004), naturally at the time, caning, harsh punishment, etc. weren't enforced, as they have a better method of punishing the student;
Depriving us from thing/activity that we hold dear.
This work very well, one example is no television for a month, that doesn't sound bad, but remember this is a boarding school in the middle of nowhere, and if you don't like playing football, cricket, cycling in the nearby forest, swimming, etc. it work effectively.
If you're keen on playing football after school (we have a little league organised by the prefect of our 'house'), you'll be banned from that for a certain amount of time, and not only that, the other player will hate you for getting in trouble to not play football with them.
Smacking does work, but there are much more effective way of punishing children, and that's to deprive them of certain thing that they hold dearly, it can be something as simple as missing their favourite tv programme.
No Tiswas, its not.
