God I think I accidentally ended up going up that years ago when I was much heavier. Not pleasant ...

I fit neither category.
Distinctly average rouleur.
Good at sitting on the front for ages, and nothing more. -

cough bullshit

You mean like how Cavendish was shit at hills until Milan San remo?
-

Went for a ride on the HC potential bike.
It currently is a bit portly at 6.8kg (but then I can't really cast aspersions as I'm 66.6kg (or 3kg fatter than my fittest . Need to work out how to drop that a bit. However, 2nd fastest time on BH without really trying all that much (was trying to coax the bike up the hill but the chain was on its way out -as proved at Headley corner 5 mins later).

Have you taken the gears off yet?
-
• #558
You’d be quicker up Box Hill in the torpedo. Get yourself up Leith Hill or Coldharbour!

Anyone have a very light bottle cage to move on?
-
• #560
I might have a couple, got a Sworks carbon rib cage, sub 20g I think, or some Bontrager XXX, I think they're about 16g?
-
• #561
... why?
-
• #563
OK yeah, that does make sense.
-
• #564
How long is the hill? Just stash bottles somewhere.
You know what's lighter than a light cage? No cage and -5oog of water.

• #565
Ultra-racing style bladder hanging from a tree
-
• #566
I was just thinking bottles in an esky or left on car roof but that could work. Depends on the hill/location.
-
• #567
Yeah, I’ll not be carrying a bottle most of the time.
I’ve got all that in hand. It’s only a small piece of the jigsaw :-) -
• #568
Mid race fighter jet style refuelling?
-
• #569
Jersey pockets then. Still lighter than a light cage.
-
• #570
No jersey is lighter again
-
• #571
But what if you wring out your jersey to replace lost fluids?
-
• #572
Who knew a light bottle cage could create such a stir haha
-
• #573
Are we going to move onto skewers next?
-
• #574
Thru axle ;-)

• #575
Thats hollow!
Problem solved.
All the longer hill climbs are under threat from the aerobic monster Ironmen.
The shorter hill climbs are under threat from all the bored crit sprinters.
