Do people usually run rear tyre at a lower pressure for hill climbing or stick to their usual?

Depends how wedded the CTT are to having someone to hold riders at the start. I can’t see how you can do that and social distance.
To be honest, I’d be surprised if there is any competitive cycling this calendar year, but I hope I’m wrong.

I'm not so sure they'll be run.
I'm not sure CX will go ahead this year. central mentioned cancelling, SE are trying to work something out.
While the racing up a hill can easily be socially distanced, and probably suit hill climbers. The starters will have to be around 100 people in close proximity. And then the crowds?I dunno. Its still a long way off (or feels that way).

Look at that.
Dad vibes. -

And then the crowds
Lucky if there is one man and his dog at most uk hillclimbs...
I think something could be worked out for HCs - 2m is just over a bike length, so riders could queue in line.
Obviously you wouldn't be able to have a holder/pusher off or catchers at the top.

I can only base my experience of catford, leith, the bec, and the brixpetto world champs. Throngs at all of them.

(sportive hill climb yes)

I usually run 70 to 80psi on good surfaces and longer hills, down to 65 or even 55psi on steep, wet, shitty surfaces (Catford).
For ref: 22mm tubulars on narrow rims, bike + me weigh 65kg

Ok thanks. Which hill do Catford use?
I’d like to go practice some on my regular rides. -

Yorks

Goathurst

Thanks. Ride Ide, Star, Toys, Carters on my routes generally.

Try Birling Hill - probably my fave around there. Terry's Lodge Road is a good-un too. Neither are much like most UK HCs, but they're lovely climbs.

Great to explore new bits though

How have I never ridden this one? I'll give that a go next time I'm out that far East. Thanks!
Vigo hill from Trottiscliffe and Roughway up to Dunk's Green are also favourites of mine around that area.
Chalkpit Lane from Oxted is my current favourite hill. Dreamy...

Finished this yesterday.
At 91kg this morning I definitely think I'm in with a chance (of finishing another of PJ's books)

• #544
I like alf is also brilliant

Started that last night after finishing CE. I'm going for the double. He is/was writing about LEJOG too but I don't know if that's out yet.
-
• #546
Nope, not yet - manuscript has been submitted and it's in the editing process last I heard.

Roughway is a good one, got my eye on it this year. I like that lump and the various routes up it. Just lost my KOM on Gover Hill / Park Road yesterday 😭

I could've just looked at his twitter bio:
"New book 'End to End: A Story of Obsession, Hallucination and Happiness' out via Little, Brown in early 2021."

If you like chalkpit you should give Succumbs a bash. The second kick is disgustingly steep.

Your FTP (and as a result ftp/kg) is insane, don't be daft.
I just need to justify having wasted half a year on a turbo for an ironman thats now cancelled.
Completely wrong training base.
I hope so, depends if CTT are super cautious or more pragmatic. Reckon they could be run safely even now.
I suspect you and all the other watt-monsters who normally ignore HCs but didn’t get to race all year are going to ruin my season 😭
