@umop3pisdn Waldbury looks good. I had Wigmore CC in the diary but maybe Newbury RC is a better shout. Is there a team prize...?

I'd be very surprised if not

Is there a team prize...?
There was last year, OUCC won it

How am I meant to motivate myself to ride up bastard steep hills when I'm far less light and far less fast than I was at 16? Looking back I have absolutely no idea what made me enjoy it so much

Currently in this position. Road HC bike this morning and it wasn't great.

Training is going ok for me, but I haven't ridden up a hill in anger since November. Who knows what'll happen!

@umop3pisdn are you driving to Waldbury form London? It doesn't look good train wise. I'd have to sleep in a station...

• #235
I'm 90% not gonna go now as there's a sweet Audax the same day, but if I did I'd be driving from Farnham I'm afraid

Bec is 100% on btw

It turns out that Regis is playing in Oxford the night before the National (a night when, were I to ride, I would have to be at home/in Northumbria).
This season is setting itself up to be a disappointing one.

For anyone interested we are hosting a climb up Bison Hill on 17th September (entries close on 5th). Not too far out from London, actually counts as London north district somehow.

Reckon I'll be taking a crack at this one.

Did anyone enter the Cotswold Veldrijden 3 stage on the 16th of September? Just went to enter it and CTT says it's cancelled...
-
• #242
Organiser has family problems apparently and can't find a replacement
-
• #243
That's a real shame. It was cancelled in 2015 too I think.
Any alternative suggestions?

It's early right? Just start your season with the Reading double. Counts as two separate events this year I believe.

Hmmmm. I could cycle to bison hill from my gaff in under 10 minutes. However, my bike weighs the best part of 13kg and I'm a pretty average climber. It really appeals but I'm not sure I can handle the inevitable crushing failure.

I'll just have come back from a week in the Alps, so ideally I'd be racing Saturday and Sunday.
-
• #247
Do it! Or just come along and cheer on some of the competitors.
-
• #248
Do people just turn up for a laugh or is it all serious cat 2/3 types?
-
• #249
It's an 'open' event which tends to be a bit more serious and requires entry in advance. 'Club' events tend to be a bit more casual, entry on line etc.

Hmmmm. Wondering how bad a twat who's main cycling is commuting, on a self built steel tourer, running a triple chainset and 28mm schwalbe marathons is going to fare. :)
That's good, always like to hear I've got something like this wrong.
