Isn't their logo a laughable parody of Rapha's?
What's with the turd in the background?

Sam, for it is he, lives a few doors down from me. We just met the other week. He’s alright. But, Ye Gods, I’m in one of his adverts, riding a Peugeot along our road, elegantly. I charged no fee. Needless to say, it sold immediately.

All their 'Scruffy Racer' conversions have freewheels and no rear brake - are they even legal?
-
• #55
Not legal, shit and dangerous
Is Chris Borneo involved?

@DJ That's a good rumour. I'm liking that one. :-)

oh i knew this would spread like (create/unipack) shit.
So heres the story:
My friend had a budget of £200 for SS bike. He was after a 2ndhand.
Going through gumtree/ebay and BAM! found BRAND new bikes for £180.
SO we went to this place between portobello road and westbourne grove.
An australian guy with shit bikes. I was on Langster steel which was like loaf of bread in front of starved people for him. He showed many shit bikes. I told my friend not to buy any of them.
He went for a charge plug instead and is happy with it.
So the Australian goes on abt his 'brand new bikes' tells me proudly how he cheaply sources parts from Taiwan. Also tells me that he plans to open a shop and want to call it Caramel cycles :D
The moment we said we dont want to buy it he disappeared in 3 seconds.
I hated those bikes (and him) they are/were worse than Create.
Please dont buy ANYTHING. -

So, is this a Crate/Unipak merge or what?
-
• #59
no, separate but similar shit by the sound of it

This is what happens when graphic designers build bikes (sorry BDW) :P

At least one of the frames on the site looks very like a Unipak frame (complete with distinctively horrid blobby welding). I'd imagine they're a commodity item that happens to have been imported under the Unipak and Create brands first and this chap has simply worked out how to use Alibaba.com and got his own supply line going from Peoples' Bicycle-Type Lumpen Object Factory Number 317 or wherever.

De Ja Vu anyone?
I'm staying out of it.

i am waiting for them to come on here and comment back
it looks like they have nothing to say for themselves
i'd like to say they know their bikes are shit already but given the stupidity of their earlier questions on here i think they may just be ignorant

Yep. Much better to let a welder do it. Graphic designers are shit with a MIG. You end up getting horrible bobbly welds.
-

i for one will look no further than caramel cycles the next time i want to have a rapid fast undetectable goodtime
-
• #69
No bar plugs, either; only undetectable 'til you apple-core a child, then they'll follow the blood.

Maybe I've not been around long enough, but has anyone ever started up a new fixed bike company to rapturous acclaim from the forum?
We have Unicack/create/Foffa/Caramel who all get slated. I've got no idea whether any of them are any good or not, I've never ridden any of them and from the look of their websites I'm not even slightly tempted.
Anyway, was just wondering if any new companies had sprung up to be met with reviews like:
"wow, that is a really well conceived frame, well put together with decent components. Yes it's cheap, yes its heavy, yes its OTP, no I wouldn't personally want one, but given the price thats a pretty good deal. Well done!"
I guess it would help if the ad campaign had people looking where they were riding.
