Doesn't everywhere in london. It's Grey Britain for a reason.
But seriously, CG, do elaborate.

Anyone here in the streatham hill area (near the rail station), seen a few nice properties; just wondering what the locations like?
Lived there for 2yrs(Leigham Court Road). Nice enough properties but the place is dull as fuck. Said it a million times....best thing about Streatham is Kennedy's Fish & Chip shop on Leigham Ave
Oh, if you're feeling posh there's a Nando's and Pizza Express

There *are *no pubs in Streatham/Streatham Hill, hence why I still drank in my old local down off Brixton Hill

To be honest I've never been there, don't like the name though.

For those asking about SE London. I've never had any problems in the Crystal Palace / Sydenham / West Norwood areas. The latter are probably marginally more rough, but equally you don't have to ride up a big hill every time you want to go home. Palace and Sydenham are both on the East London line now so prices have almost certainly gone up.
West Norwood benefits on being a bit shit on first analysis so it's reasonably cheap but has good links in to London (bus and train) and, as has already been mentioned for another location- it's really close to Herne Hill, Dulwich and the very lovely Brockwell Park.
Personally, living there with a bike, I rarely think about the fact that to many people it's "too far away" from the centre. -

How the FUCK did Nandos open up on Stoke Newington Church St?

I dunno, but my friend lives right in front of it. Above the pizza place, and the house is great.
Apart from the constant pizza smell. -

Does anyone know any likely places that one would find a decent size studio flat for very very cheap? For renting that is. Is the deep south really the only option?
I've been trying to help my friend find a new place but even Caledonian road where we used to live in an amazing two bedroom flat with a huge living room for £220pw between us has now become way out of her budget.

Friends of mine have lived there for years. Good places to rent at reasonable prices. A few areas are a bit shady. Only a very few decent places to go for a bite and nowhere to really go for a drink. Wouldn't be my choice but the only way to know if it's yours is a visit.

Or [ s ] and [ /s ]
Not to snub your info, but being 15 years ago it might be a bit of out 'touch' with the area now. Thanks for the input though.
