Regarding the Rapha goods, I've spoken to Rapha again this morning and they've again confirmed that some items were stolen.

Not all, as many items can legitimately have originated from sample sales, staff discount, etc. And there is less concern about uniform. But for a few items (the prototypes, test items, etc) there is no doubt, those should not have been made available for sale.

As such Rapha are far more focused on identifying the sources for these items, the person who originally took them.

So to those who did buy items, do enjoy them with a free conscience. Rapha know that you purchased them in good faith and Rapha want you to enjoy them as they were intended to be enjoyed. So wear them, ride lots, etc.

And I think, that's pretty much everything concluded from the forum point of view.

I think this has been handled very, very well by both the forum and by Rapha.

It sounds like someone's in a bit of trouble though...

Oh, and this does mean that Hunterlar can sell the items which at some point have been available to purchase from Rapha.

He's still prohibited from selling items that have never been available for sale to the public, but the rest he's good to sell.

As they may be prototypes or test items, I believe purchasers who have already received their items should be compelled to document their use of the items and report back their findings to the R&D team. It's probably what would be happening if they hadn't been "sourced"...

The prototype/test items should definitely be returned to Rapha.

But to be clear, I was responding to the several people who asked things like "I have these bib shorts or jersey, should I return that and who to?".

I asked that of Rapha, and Rapha are unconcerned about the items that are NOT the test/prototype items.

did rapha report these stolen? when did they realise? seems like they didnt care about these products enough to get the police to arrest this employee/contractor at the time.

The vast majority of companies seldom do a stock-check of their assets. When was the last time you worked somewhere that someone walked around and checked whether every item you'd ever touched was accountable?

Whether or not such systems were in place, and whether or not the items were noticed to be missing at the time, all of that is absolutely irrelevant given that the ownership of the items in question was never transferred from Rapha to any other party.

Nothing else needs to exist except for that... if Rapha haven't transferred the ownership of an item (by some sale, transaction or agreement), then the items belong to Rapha and no-one else can just sell them.

I expect the prototypes were sitting in a box in a store room and therefore if someone were to take one, Rapha wouldn't realise straight away anyway, Laner.

Most companies carry out an inventory of ALL stock every year as part of their annual audit, but the vast majority of companies I've worked for do this every six months.

The last company I worked for actually carried this out every quarter.

Efficient operations will have a dedicated member of staff (and depending on the size of the operation, a dedicated team) who perform counts on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, therefore ensuring minimal losses for the company. If Rapha had such foresight, then this situation may well have been spotted earlier.

Also, who in their right mind gives access to samples/prototypes to minions?

Rapha need to sort themselves out with a someone dedicated to inventory control - I can guarantee that these pieces would never have left Rapha HQ.

When viewing a user's profile page, some pages show when the user was last active on the forum (beneath the Send Message and User Lists dropdowns) and some don't.

What's the basis for whether this information is shown or not?

Whether they have declared themselves "invisible" in their options.

If they are "invisible", then the last active timestamp, and where that activity was, is neither recorded or shown.

That's fine for those individuals if they're just browsing, but obviously if they post a comment it's fairly useless as you can just search their posts and see when and where they were last active.
