ok so even with 2.5mm of extra width on the driveside (123mm BB equiv) it still doesn't shift properly,
the pressed ramp on the derailleur which narrows it by 3mm and eases the chain across basically stops before it curves round to the same level as the chain when on the middle ring.
Looking at the difference between double and triple FDs the significant obvious difference is the length of this ramp....
Triple:

oh and no its not the limiter screw....

So you got a double derailleur on a triple crankset, didn't realised it wasn't triple in the first place.

Yeah, but it's stock as with the (my) 2012 Crosscheck, hence my point about Surlys claim of just needing to add the inner ring and new BB.... i do know people who have used a double just fine, just seems like* this *double isn't the right sort
Can I make my Cross-check into a triple?Yes, but you'll need to buy some stuff. The crankset that comes stock on our complete bike will accommodate a 74mm bolt circle granny ring. You'll need a 74mm BCD chainring, some bolts and spacers for it, and a longer bottom bracket (think 118ish) . You can probably get this done for around $100 at a bike shop. The stock shifters and front derailleur will work fine with it

That Croix De Fer is lovely. That might just be the bike I've been waiting for.
Anyone know when it's being launched?
Is it going to be available as a frameset?
How does that fork compare to the old one? -

Shame about the colour, and the graphics. And the carbon fork... wouldn't trust it loaded with 10 kilos, and unloaded will make it back-heavy. Glad I got one this year.
-
• #7243
I don't trust carbon either, i'm getting these come pay day
-
• #7244
Not trusting carbon?
Jeez.

The carbon seatpost that came with my Genesis Vapour snapped halfway along the south downs way. It wasn't very funny.

My friend snapped his alloy seatpost a while back. It was hilarious.

One of my worst nightmares is to get penetrated, unaware mid-ride, by a sharp and ragged snapped carbon seatpost.

Worse?

Can't think of much worse than that.
Someone cutting my throat?
An unexpected cold blade gets drawn across your throat on the top deck of a busy london bus? That's worse for sure. -

Knock all of your teeth out on a foot-high spacer stacker as you fly over the bars.
Stupid question - screw limiter set?
