  • Anyone know what support this is?

    Looks like it could work?

  • Kick-fix, the downside is that it push the bag further out, and can cause it to not want to straighten out after a turn - something I hated with the Carradice Super-C bag on the CdF previously.

Having the bag closer to the headtube help it to handle a lots better.

  • Does anyone happen to know if the Ortlieb Back Roller Classic will fit on my soma porteur rack?

No idea, but given that Evans tend to stock Ortieb, you can always pop in and try it out in the shop.

  • Which skinny and Howard have no problem running BB7 with old SRAM, even I managed to vastly improved the braking performance by running compressionless.

If someone with wants to gift me BB7's with some compressionless cables to show me that its better I'll happily trial it, if not I'm throwing money down the drain, i'm not Amey let you forget!

    I'll stop by one tonight

Find and chase down JB as he got my bike with BB7.

  • But with cane creek levers...

Seriously though, I have wondered if I should change to bar end shifters/s500 levers and trp hy/rd

  • Even so, I set up a similar bicycle with the same compressionless housing (with SRAM Rival), and the performance is identical.

Or TRP Spyre (after they fix the fault), a massive improvement over BB7 with both pads moving like a hydro than one side.

  • Trent? I thought his name was Jordan?

    Bond, James Bond.

  • To be honest I'd rather have good brakes than a good bag, i'm waiting for my compressionless out to arrive, which should get my twin-v's in the highest level of functionality. I can already lock up the rear wheel with little to no effort. One thing I will be doing is modding the mount to bring it close to the steerer.

  • Spotter, do you have any pics of your CdF in it's current guise with the rack?

  • Give me 45 minutes and I will...

  • Give me 45 minutes to grab a camera and find a brick wall and I will...

    ftfy.

  • This appears to have a rear zipped pocket - any good?

  • has been dismissed above because it's too cheap

That's the same bag as the one mentioned above, I own it.

This photo illustrates another problem, namely how much you have to squash the bag to secure it

  • Wouldn't tires make more of a difference than frame tubing/geometry?

I have 25c on my 653 steel road bike and its is so glidey it feels as if it has suspension.

On my hybrid, I have 32c and it is jarring to say the least. I finally got used to it, and tried to force my normal way of riding. But my HEADSET got crushed because of the boneshakery. Never in my life have I broken a headset, not on an MTB or BMX either.

  • Change fork for a steel one - job done.

    Guess again smart-aleck

    Coming upgrades will be:

    • compressionless outter between the levers and twin v
    • Surly disc trucker forks
    • new garmin mount
    • rear mudflap
    • new big ring as i've shark toothed the current one
    • possibly 28c tyres

I'm off to Wales this weekend, so hopefully i'll get some nice miles in before the heavens open.

  • I'm a little disappointed to say that BigxTop and Restrap both seem to be ignoring my messages about a custom rando bag.

Get in touch with breakaway, from what I've seen on their FB and instagram page, their custom work is pretty nice.

  • If you end up cross chaining a lots, get a smaller big ring like a 48 or a 46, you'll able to use the smaller cog on the cassette more.

Or stop trying to stay in the big ring all the time.

  • ^^^ dat scoble saddle angle!? Good bike though, Spats. Much function.

Speaking of which I need to get those 28c tyres to you.
