  • Sweet. Many thanks both.

  • and I have give cityagent another set of forks, for him or for you Joni, he will speak to you on tuesday

  • i don't think its designed for stem usage, but i think the metric converts to imperial thusly:
    25.4>> 1"
    28.6>>> 1.125" so might work?

  • Who said they had a 1" stem (nice and small and sturdy and polo shaped) and risers again?

Or could try and shim with Joe's 1/18th stem. Either way, I'm going to need some bars.

    Thanks again peeps.

  • I've almost certaily got a quill stem you can have, so won't need risers as you can raise the quill... But the only non-drops I have spare are about wide enough for hands and that's it.

  • Louis, Charco might be coming up with some goodies on this front. Hold fire. Thanks anyway.

And for my next incorrect assumption, the Miche crankset isn't 130bcd.

Does anyone have a small 144bcd chain ring?
    And then I'll stop asking.

  • Does anyone have a small 144bcd chain ring?

Not smaller than 41T they don't.

  • Ballbags.
    Thanks Chris.

This bike's getting my old Mighty cranks then. Meh.

Kev, can I please borrow you crank wedge then?

  • Yep, I'll bring it up to Quorn Road later.

  • Have you got a decent sized hammer to whack it with? I've only got an engineers hammer with me, not much good for the force needed to pop the crank off.

If you do, bring it with you, we'll have some fun at the court with the tool.

  • Ha, not really. I have a metal mallet which might work. Will bring. Nice one Kev, cheers.
    Aiming for 6.30pm.

If anyone else is around early, can you look for 2 large cones? The small cut off ones aren't really working.

  • mallet

you need a large mallet to hit things with at a polo game...

No idea where you could get such a thing.

  • Update:
I think I'm going to have to take this to a lbs as I'm struggling to get the driveside crank off. The space between the BB and crank is quite small so the wedge isn't fitting in far enough. I suspect having the bike in a proper stand will help.
Also, no one seems to have a freewheel remover tool to get the old cog off the wheel and a hammer and chisel wasn't working.
Hopefully it won't cost too much.
Shame, it would have been handy for this weekend.

    Fail.

  • maybe LMNH?
they might be able to help. or is it at home not work?

  • Bribe Nhatt with some freshly baked muffins or something, I'm sure she'd help out seeing as it's such a good cause and she's quite near you...

  • It's a SE22 and not easy to transport.

So local mechanic action would be awesome.

  • Wont be for this weekend but Joni, I will get that driveside crank off for you.

  • brixton or condor are your freewheel remover genus

  • Cheers Kev, I'll keep hammering away in the mean time.

Thanks Skoots, I just need a regular FW tool though and I'm there. Might just buy one innit.

  • bring th ewheel tomorrow, mechanic might have one.

  • What kind of freewheel tool? I have the four prong bmx type like this: http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=4&item=FR-6. If thats what your after.

  • Yep, that's the bugger. Was hoping to have it done by Tuesday, but I'll let you know if I haven't managed it by then matey, cheers!

  • I´ve got a freewheel remover, I´ll bring it on tuesday.

  • Thanks John. I won't be there though. PM me if you want to meet for hat collection btw.

I'm going to hammer the shit out of the cranks today, maybe put the freewheel on the fixed side if it's just the lockring threads that are shredded. (locktite?)

Anyone around SE22 today who has a bike stand?

  • You wont need any locktite, it'll just roll onto the fixed side and stay put until you take it off with a removal tool, there's never any backward pressure on it.
