Yep, and imagine how the guy that he bought it from originally (**vive_le_velo on the trackdropouts forum) **will feel. In my opinion, most sellers like to ensure that their buyers 'get a good deal'; thus ensuring a 'win win' situation.
It was advertised at £135 ono - he probably got it for less than that. All of a sudden it is 'too big' and he doesn't like the riding position; oh yes, the price has doubled - more than adequate compensation.
What I find amazing (surely I can't be the only one ? ), is the sheer brazen behaviour of jonnyrau. Multiple usernames, deception and lies, lies, lies. Is he desperate for money to help pay for treatment for his poor cancer-ridden brother/sickly mother etc., etc ?
If he sees this forum as a money-making opportunity, well I can understand that; he wouldn't be the first one. What I find annoying, is that he really believes that the members of this forum are stupid; he thinks that his 'stories' and deceptions are believable.
Sadly, I have to question the intelligence of some on this forum - those who have any dealings with jonnyrau (or one of his multiple guises); can they really trust and believe anything that he tells them ?
Surely, trust & belief are the primary factors in undertaking any transaction ?

Can we not ban him now?

Not that I am condoning what jonnyrau is doing, how is it any different from what Hillary Stone, Organic Origin, JD, RetroDiCorsa, colnago_costa or any of the other people who trade in bikes?
Buy it cheap in place A, sell it at a profit in place B.

He's stopped Balki from taking 'artistic' polaroids, that's what he's done.

i think its still a fair price for a beautiful bike frame, and i need the money to pay for my rent. I would love to keep it but it is too big. whats the point in keeping a bike you cant ride comfortably. I havent lied about anything in this ad, its just too big and yes I am making a profit but if you think its the right price for you then I am more than happy to sell. The lo pro is still available, yes I did get a deal but at the end of the day who wouldnt turn down the opportunity to make a few bucks.

Guy, I don't think anyone has ever accused any of the above traders of bad packaging, having aliases to try to help sales of shipping incomplete goods etc.
In my mind what jonnyrau is doing is pretty low and not in keeping with the feeling that VB wants to promote as LFGSS and has caused as much bad feeling on the forum as Pisti or Teenslains bullying/pisstaking ever caused.I'd like to think that when VB has calmed down in regards of organizing the stand for the UK Cycle Show that jonnyrau's membership will be reviewed and this will be put to bed one way or another.

If you 'need the money for rent' then why are you spending money on new frames? This is a community, if you got a bargain then it's nice to be able to pass that on to someone else. A community means give and take. You just take.
£270 for that frame is a rip off, I sold an amazing Moser lo-pro frame for £225 earlier this year. You take a bargain from someone, then try and rip them and the forum off at the same timeBan the prick

I imagine you won't be getting any bargains from anyone on here to profit from.

TBH I've not been following his shenanigans, I don't really know what he has been up to. So the dude could be a complete cock and not a good forum type. I don't know.
But purely on the selling for a profit, I do fail to see how it is any different from any of the other 'traders'?
No one every pulls Hillary Stone up saying, 'That frame was £25 at the jumble you got it, why are you selling it here for £125'

^^ what he said

• #491
Does Hilary ever take freebie frames from bike forums then try and sell them on a few days later on a different forum? Just one of this guys stunts
-
• #492
That has been and gone, he got absolutely toasted for that and rightly so, there is nothing wrong about this advert eh?
-
• #493
who and why would say anything to defend or cover up for this johnnyrau type?
-
• #494
I suppose the distinction between Hilary and other professional traders who source their bargains from jumbles, and jonnyrau, is that i don't recall the former ever buying from a forum, and relisting for a profit on another. Jonnyrau's actions are far more lazy and greedy, and are depriving the community of bikes which will be ridden.
-
• #495
i know hes been a cock before but is there a rule against profiteering or something? do all sellers have to sell their goods at below what they bought for people to be happy? There is no difference from buying from jumbles/ forums its the same, if you get a bargain at a jumble and then selling it on you are doing exactly the same thing as if buying from a forum and selling it on another.
-
• #496
somebody that just joined the forum this month, maybe another alias for old johnnyrau?
who and why would say anything to defend or cover up for this johnnyrau type?
-
• #497
wait and all new members are now jonnyraus? im simply stating a point.
-
• #498
Jumbles, by design, are for profiteering. This forum, as see it, is there for the community to do each other good turns.
Whatever. I'm sure VB will voice his well-reasoned opinion on all this bollocks at some point.
-
• #499
its been protocol for a while for things bought on the forum to only decrease in price when they are resold on the forum. you can get more money on ebay, but as braker says, i'ts meant to be a community. I've sold some dirt cheap stuff on here and bought some too. thats one of the reasons why its ace. Its like extremely far-sighted swaps.

Hillary, JD and the others are widely known as traders therefore I think most on here will accept that they are here to turn a bit of cash. Jonny is not a trader his just trying to make cash buy abusing the good nature (ha) of this and other forums.
Infact I sold JD a Brooks saddle a few weeks ago and he sold it on 20min later for a £15 profit but thats what he's like and I still like him. Also most of the other traders on here are all very active on the forum offering advice that is impartial not aimed at getting a sale as well as adding to the community. Hilary is a bit different as he doesn't really contribute anything other than sales but going on how much people seem to praise his service I think he's adding enough.
only good experiences with Hilary here also
