I got lots of stuff from hilary and he always posted the stuff right away. usually 2 days to get to london. On one occasion some bars took over 2 weeks to get here. one out of 8 times is not bad so I didnt really care 'cause I knew it was coming. I guess if I were waiting on a specific part to finish a build I would be pissed. if you want to borrow some bars put up a wanted to borrow thread and someone will lend you some.

I have delt with Hilary on the forum and face to face at jumbles he has bought stuff off me and also found stuff for me,he has so much stuff and sell so much things may slip through the net,it;s worth knowing Hilary has a mountain of knowledge, which he is only to eager to help with things you may need for your build, when I go to jumbles to be honest everybody gets the cold shoulder as I am usualy focused on looking at stuff.

Hmmm... peter and dave anyone? Seems like he posted a host of stuff for sale and suddenly went cold...

hilary even delivered my de rosa frame for free, to my house, as he was coming to london for a jumble sale

In my experience, Hilary is 100% solid when it comes to delivering stuff you buy from him, so I wouldn't call him a bad trader. However, he could perhaps manage the communication side of things a bit better so people know where they are with transactions, but perhaps with the volume of stuff he has on the go it is difficult to keep on top of it all. I guess you have to remember you get kickass stuff from him at a reasonable price, so can't complain too much.

Yes, he always delivers, and under pressure, the communication, and packing suffer. In the process, however, a buyer can lose. When the buyer does lose, it is the buyer who absorbs the cost. This is the only thing that bothers me in these 'rare' bad transactions with Mr Stone.
Yes, he has a lot of pieces, they are a decent price, but I'll not be buying in a hurry. -

Looks like JONNYRAU is still pissing Balki about.... what a cunt.
Doesn't feel like answering PM's after ripping someone off. How convenient. -

so far the focus on the thread has been on Bad Traders of the seller variety, but there are bad traders of the buying variety too........ie those who are a pain in the ass to deal with

I am very sorry for my poor communication at present but I have been severely distracted over the past two to three months - my partner Irene has had a breakdown and is still in hospital... Sanddancers bars were overlooked - I PM'd him much earlier today and they will be packed tomorrow and posted first class either tomorrow or Wednesday morning.
And to Marcho sorry but at jumbles I will be extremely busy and often very preoccupied - its generally later in a jumble that I have a chance to talk to customers and friends...

Hope Irene gets well soon.

Last Tuesday I PMed Mr. Stone in regards of a stem on one of the older threads. He replied later in the day, answering my question and specifying next posting day would be Friday (last Friday). I paid for the item on Thursday. I received my stem today, and guess what - I'm in Ukraine.
I've bought what seems like loads of stuff off of Hilary and all ever was fine. Once (once!) he forgot to include one of the items and after receiving my PM on that sent the item for free. Again, I'm in Ukraine, so it's international postage we're talking (90% of the forumengers won't even reply to my PM about possibility of international postage).
Mr. Stone even went as far as letting me know in advance (before posting general sale threads) about items I was interested in (which he obviously had to remember from my much earlier questions!)
I would recommend to everyone, who had a single bad experience with Hilary to try and do some more business with him. I'm sure you will join the ranks of hundreds of happy customers in no time.
Hilary, I hope it gets better for you and your partner soon!

The lack of bad traders is a good thing...but we all enjoy a good witch-hunt.
My pitchfork and burning stick are getting dusty!
I'd understand if he was busy or if he had a weekly or fortnightly postage drop, given the number of items he sells. What pisses me off is that he can't reply to a PM to say that. If he'd PM'd me and let me know that he's busy and can't post it for a week or two, at least I'd know. I can't see how he can be too busy to do that, yet has time to make multiple sale threads, read and reply to many PMs from people wanting to buy things etc. If he wasn't around, hadn't been posting or PMing others, then being busy could be an excuse.
Like I say, I don't think he's trying to scam anyone, I know he's got a boatload of perfectly satisfied customers, but he also has a large number of dissatisfied customers (who knows how many more that have never bothered to post or leave a visitor message?) and if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones, then it's a pretty miserable experience, certainly the worst that I've had on LFGSS.
