I thought about hub-centre steering for ultra-long travel DH bikes, but it doesn't really work since you can hardly turn the front wheel without it knocking into the linkage. It's fine (well, it's not fine, but it's at least practicable) for a track bike (or motorbike) because you don't really need the wheel to turn that much to steer the bike.

^ as a mountain-biker I can confirm that through-axles are bloody brilliant. No more vagueness on high-speed descents or rock gardens, and they're easier to use.
Anyway, I thought this was a good idea. Not a bicycle innovation per se, but still relevant.

If your suspension feels vague, you need to look at your spring and damper settings.
In general, through axles reduce yaw and roll of the wheel relative to the frame by increasing the torsional stiffness of the forks. It's wheel movement in these two planes which send the bike in uncommanded directions.

AFAIK there's no fork that is swappable between QR and TA so I can't make a direct comparison, but I have experienced the difference before-and-after 142x12 upgrade on the rear end of my Yeti, and there's a noticeable difference in rock gardens, off-camber corners and landings, and berms, especially at 40-50kph (above which I lose my bottle).

Cyckit - Integrated, Minimalist Under Seat Cycle Storage.
I'd use one, looks far better than most saddlebags. They're only down the road from me. I'll get in touch.
