What is the problem with the existing rules?
Its not the rules...its the fixture format some of us would like to see change.
It's just some of us want to allow for draws in-order to give the league points system more depth...this then changes the best of 3 format we played last season.

yeah and we also need to vote for a system which encourages teams to play their fixtures within the league deadline.

This, for me personally, is the single most important change required for the next league. -
• #205
Simple in theory, probably (necessarily) harsh in practice.
Maybe more 4-member teams? -
• #206
or just use a sub
(IMO 4 person teams shouldn't be allowed)
-
• #207
Or sub indeed, but teams seemed reluctant to go down this route last season.

I agree with this. -

(a) Outside of the league taking too much time away from pickup and (b) some teams not being committed so the fixtures ran over by a few months, I'd say very little.
Personally, I don't think (a) is a problem. It's polo one way or another.
I'm not sure if there is any effective way to deal with (b) other than putting a limit on how long a game can be postponed, past which one team will have to forfeit. But enforcing this opens up a whole other can of worms. This, I think, is why we implemented the "two postponements" rule (addition #5) which didn't work out because even that was hard to enforce.

• #210
It wasn't hard to enforce, it just wasn't enforced at all. As no one person is in control, or enforcing the rules, it's kinda impossible.
-
• #211
Splitting hairs.
-
• #212
there were penalties at the end of the league.
but anyway
my last 2p is that I don't think scores should be unlimited. It would be really horrible to keep slamming goals in against new teams, one after another, just to maximise goal difference. I really don't want that. I stand by 2 games, first to five, combined scores.
-
• #213
No, there weren't penalties, The games that weren't played, got ZERO scores. Not forfeits.
-
• #214
So what if the first game is 5-0, and the second is 0-5?
-
• #215
Draw - 1 point each.
-
• #216
that's a draw?
trick question?
-
• #217
then its a draw over the two games?
-
• #218
Surely it's just one game, so it's 5-5. By carrying on calling it 2 games, just makes it confusing. It's one game, of two halves.
-
• #219
ok, we're just picking how to refer to it. I just think two lengths of play timed to 15, scores limited to 5 in each length of play. Scores from each length og play combined at the end of the second length of play.
IMO, still need to vote.

We are going round in circles here.
Basically, we either go for something like...
a) 1 game with a set time split in halve (court end switchs) with unltd goals to get a win, lose of draw result.
b) multiple 1st to 5 games to get a win, lose or draw result (Something like snoops' idea).
c) stick to what we had last season which was kinda of a best of 3 format with gg, so only a win counts.
what's it going to be?
-
• #221
How about 3 games, but allowing draws. 3points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. 10 or 15 minutes per game. So it's similar to last year, but no golden goals which meant some games went on for 25 mins+
-
• #222
I vote no change.
-
• #223
or just use a sub

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but what is the difference?
-
• #224
a) 2 games, 15 minutes, 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.
or
b) 3 games, 10 minutes, 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.
I'd prefer a.

The forth player can't be a sub for other teams
Outside of the league taking too much time away from pickup and some teams not being committed so the fixtures ran over by a few months, I'd say very little.
