  • Eric B & Rakim.

I appreciate the influence on the genre, but overall it's nostalgic hype. A bit like when everyone suddenly started listening to the Pixies in the mid '00s.

(obviously not for one second suggesting the Pixies are remotely as musically significant)

Whaaaaaat the actual fuck? Eric B and Rakim are bona fide solid gold! Jesus!

  • the b i g

d a double d why kay eh any

  • And me, the E to the D to the O
To the U to the B to the L to the E.

  • I’ll leave it now

  • There's three of us and we're not the Beatles.

  • Never got the Beatles either.

  • Now we're talking...

  • Finally something we all can agree on.

  • Led Zeppelin.

  • yeh but Glass Houses Of The Holly Holy tho

  • This was my big thing as a teenager, I really hated Led Zep and the Beatles but loved The Stones and Sabbath...

  • The Who

    Never understood the appeal.

  • you do know the beatles started out as a punk band right ?

  • Never got the Beatles either.

I get them, but I'm a bit agnostic when it comes to a lot of the music. Their early stuff is basically Boyzone with instruments.

  • Their first few records contain possibly the most explosive music of the time, in recent years they've become my favourites out of all the big UK 60s bands...

  • you do know the beatles started put as a punk band right ?

Yeah, they were great down cbgbs

  • Sex Pistols started off as an early Beatles tribute act.

  • Although it's always pretty hilarious reading about how outlandish and shocking the early Beatles haircuts were.

  • Ask Horton, I think he's heard them.

  • They famously wrote theme tunes for NCIS.

  • A lot, (perhaps even most), of the who stuff is odd and v questionable. If you're feeling generous to give them another chance, watch the Isle of Wight 1970. Also worth checking their woodstock performance.

Tommy is one of my all time fave albums, it's absolute genius - but I totally get how people may find it ridiculous.

They were one of those bands where every member was freakishly talented in their own right. They're basically a supergroup. Though they never had a number 1 - not that that means anything.

  • I saw The Who live in 2000 at Wembley Arena (the day before I met my now-wife)
Zak Starkey on drums, Townsend wasn't a nonce and Entwistle was still with us.
Plus Joe Strummer supported and was decent.

I was a massive The Who (and Beastie Boys) fan in the late 90s.

  • I just can't get on with The Who. Dunno why I just hate them. They just repulse me. Daltrey in particular... he makes my skin crawl. Bleeaurgh!
