  • Much as I respect Dales, and the forums love for them. I'd probably grab the Giant. Just my personal taste though.

  • Trek domane?

  • Domane is too relaxed, long arms/torso and 6ft 2" so want to be riding something 'aggressive' (hate using that term) to get a decent position.

  • Much as I respect Dales, and the forums love for them. I'd probably grab the Giant. Just my personal taste though.

Both lovely bikes, but not in my size (and a bit overbudget)!

  • ROSE Xeon CRS-3100? (Di2)

There's a few Rose bike options that I'd be looking at.

  • Ultimate CF SL 9.0?

That's perfect, PITA it will take so long for delivery. Will try and contact them

  • work mate ordered three weeks ago a 2014 29er from them, his bike got shipped yesterday; although another workmate has ordered Roadlite AL 2014 same day he hasnt received shipping email yet.

  • Hmm, if I wasn't in a rush I'd go for another Canyon for sure; but I want to start cycling next week (ideally) so I think I'm going to have to look elsewhere

  • This is in stock and has 58.3cm TT

Buy that + these wheels and sell me the ksyriums it comes with ;) Still under £2K

  • Just calling Canyon, likely to grab one of their 2013 bikes if they can post out quickly

  • Cheers for you help guys. Down to two choices:

Ultimate AL 8.0 with Campag Athena for £1274
    https://www.canyon.com/_en/roadbikes/bike.html?b=3077#

Ultimate AL 9.0 with Shimano Ultegra 6700 for £1488
    https://www.canyon.com/_en/roadbikes/bike.html?b=3079#tab-reiter2

I'm more tempted by the 9.0 due to seatpost, groupset and wheelset. Not much difference though

  • 9.0 but I am biased towards shimano ;)
Also the wheelset is the same and they are (kind of) charging you for VCLS 2.0 post

  • Any recommendations on spending £2,000 on a new roadbike? I'd go for a Canyon Ultimate AL, but can't wait 7-8 weeks for the bike to arrive. Specialized bikes are out of the game due to poor fit; Giant and Cannondale fit me spot on.

2nd hand market for 59cm TT bikes seems non existent at the moment

the jamis xenith pro di2 is a steal at 2k if you can find one in your size

  • Does anyone know anything about Cube bikes, specifically the Agree GTC. I have the opportunity to buy a 2012 one with 105 for ~£700, which I thought was quite a lot for 105 second hand, but its full carbon so I'm unsure. Is this too expensive?

    Bike like this one http://www.bikecyclingreviews.com/cube-agree-gtc-pro/

  • I realise 300 quid is almost half the price of the cube, but I'd save another300 and go for this http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CBPXSLPULT2/planet_x_pro_carbon_shimano_ultegra_road_bike

  • I did consider that, but 700 is already a bit more than I had originally planned so a grand is too much I think, ultegra would be nice though.

It's going to be a first road bike so I don't want to spend too much in case I don't really take to it.

Can't recommend Rose enough. Their site is not great and doesn't do the bikes justice. I've got the Xeon CRS and it's brilliant value, does everything you'd expect from a top race bike (stiff, light, fast, great handling, comfortable, insert further cliches here...).

  • Dont know much about Rose but ive seen a few bikes around town. Ive always been abit suprised how good they look in the flesh esp for the cash. I also hear mostly great things from the owners.

  • What size?

If this is referring to me the cube is a 60cm, but this is only because they come up small apparently (and their size chart seems to confirm this), a 58 is my size really.

  • Cubes have really short top tubes, I have found.

This. You can change almost any part of the specification ie bar width, crank length, stem length, number of headset spacers, stem, post, saddle, wheels, gear ratios (I went for 52/36 which has been excellent), the service and delivery is fast and efficient and most critically the bike performs and handles brilliantly. There are restrictions so its not a full custom bike experience, but its damn close and you pay pretty much the same for a whole bike as you would for a similar performing frameset from a more "known" manufacturer. This owner certainly recommends them.

  • I would definitely consider Rose for my next roadbike.

I find the own branded stuff looks great and by all accounts performs brilliantly.

When you look at what you get for the money - its easy to see why there are a lot of people singing their praises. Ive considered going for the RS frameset but I think you get best value on full builds.

Yetidamo bike looks good - although would look nicer without the huge conical spacer! :)
