  • I wouldn't have a £2k bike as my commuter unless I had somewhere absolutely secure to leave it in working hours.

Hmm maybe I can have just the one bike then? Something in my head says I shouldn't use a 2k bike to cycle to work on though, although it would make things much cheaper as I could just lift the 105 from my current bike on to the new one and treat myself to some new open pro wheels whilst I'm at it.

  • Oh I have somewhere secure to leave it. The place where our bikes are locked is padlocked up then I lock mine once It's inside anyway.

  • Well I don't have my fixed bike anymore but I've got my audax bike with 105, some of which I could move over to a new TI sportive bike but still have the audax to get to work on. Whether I should keep the audax bike as it is and just build up a new sportive bike is what's bothering me at the moment.

This would mean having 2 audax/sportive bikes.

I'd sell the audax, and build up the Ti sportive with a decent range cassette, and a versatile wheelset. You can always get PX to do you a deal with a fixed bundle with the Ti frmae ;)

  • Interesting, Furry. Anyone know how the PX Ti might compare to a Van Nicholas or Enigma frame?

  • They are Van Nichola frames, aren't they? Built by VN for them, anyway, just slightly different in the details.

They were Lynskey before, but yes VN now.

I dont remember the Lynskey having rack mounts. I'm pretty sure the VN sportive offering doesnt either. I'd get one myself, but I'm better suited by a full on roadie, coupled with a utility road bike (Surly Disc truker, Salsa Vaya etc.)

I thought they were made by lynskey?

    Beaten to it!

  • Van Nicky vs Spa Cycles ti weight showdown at the CTC.

    Great link!

That spa cycles jobbie looks great OTP, ready built with Apex. IMHO I very well thought out build.

Chas Roberts Audax, might as well stop there.

(rich coming from someone who needed an custom but end up going for OTP).

  • 4 st in 5 months??? Ed, what's your secret? NO HOMO

  • 4 stone in 5 months is not healthy Ed, at all. The generally accepted max to lose healthily in 12 months is 3.

  • It can't be healthy to lose that weight and cycle Ed, I think most people would be constantly bonking.

  • Ed hasn't bonked in quite some time.

  • I'd like to watch Ed bonking

  • You need help.

  • you took it there, Andy

  • and for that, I shall be eternally sorry.

  • You need help.

Thanks, but it's ok... I can watch Ed bonking in a ditch on my own.

  • Ed tried bonking once but found it uncomfortable and dumped her.

    By riding a bicycle.

Ed I've already said I've got an audax bike that's why I'm not sure what to do. Having 2 audax bikes seems pointless, but I still need a bike to ride to work on.

  • Ed's life:
Audax Bike, Audax Bike, Porteur Bike, Brown Bike, Brown Bike.

  • No bonking.
