it would be nice to go for a bicycle where you don't need to change component to make it fit.
Never managed to achieve this and as long as I buy OTP doubt I ever will, on either MTB or Road bikes I have pretty much always changed the bars and stem instantly.
Out of interest when selling a customer a bike how do you judge if they are buying the right size?

By asking them the right question, i.e. how does that feel? does it feel stretched? cramped? do you find you're straining your neck to look up when on the hood? etc.
Then find a bicycle that fit, if necessary, add a longer/shorter stem to compensate.
The only bicycle I sold that doesn't fit the individual is an hybrid that he insist on buying because it's cheap despite me telling him it's way too big and we could build him one by the next day.

but how does someone who is not used to riding know if they are stretched or cramped?
how can they tell if the handlebars are too low or high just by sitting on the bike or riding up and down the street?as someone who continually struggles for comfort, despite your huge knowledge of cycling, how do you expect a novice to cycling to be able to know if they are going to be comfortable?

simply by sitting on the bicycle and trying out a couple of them in different sizes (test ride), even when they hasn't ridden a road bicycle before, they can able to feel the difference when asked.
I draw the line at TT bicycle as I don't know much about the position and such, which I'm sure you can tell today!
I weight 68kg now (from 91kg in June), so saddle is no longer an issue, incidentally I now found the Charge Spoon saddle surprisingly comfortable, losing a lots of weight helped make me more comfortable on the bicycle, just the simple case of reach is the only problem.

can imagine you telling a fat customer "you are only uncomfortable because you need to lose lot of weights"
-
• #2032
hah, nah I just tell them it will take a while to adapt to riding a bicycle.
-
• #2033
Ed that's a rather worrying amount of weight to have lost in that period of time is it not?
-
• #2034
it is, but totally worth it to be comfortable on a bicycle, in fact I don't think I had been that comfortable period.
can't be as bad as those TdF ride whom tend to be something like a staggering 60kg.

I do this at work when they try to buy cheap beds or lift and tilt chairs. It sucks but needs to be done.

The Pinnacle Evaporite Three is the one with Ultegra (minus chainset and cassette) and 1700g wheels that sounds alright.

Maybe I've been following pro cycling too closely, but is it wrong that I look at that picture on the right and think that it's not only perfectly acceptable, but how someone is supposed to look unless they're into 'strength' sports? Fair enough, the one on the left looks fucked.

Same person is it not?
Because it feel like it almost perfect, it would be nice to go for a bicycle where you don't need to change component to make it fit.
No harm in finding out if the 51cm fit better or not.
